Title: Amusement Park
Type: Drawing & Illustration
Medium:
Crayons on hard thick paper
Size: 16”x20”
This piece originates from my own emotions and thoughts towards the world; some drawing parts can be seen as a self-portrait. I want to exhibit this feeling of being young and optimistic, despite the current situations in society. Young people are often playful and carefree even in the harshest environment, such as putting a group of young people in a landfill, and they will still be able to find joy within that environment. As previously mentioned, this is half a self-portrait; the figure lying on the slide is a self-portrait, while the figure standing at the back can be seen as someone else, even though it is dressed in similar clothing. This indicates that I have found my playmate within my "landfill" and that even though there are many things to worry about while growing up, I would still take time and enjoy my youth. I use the Crayons to create this work to enhance the feeling of being young and optimistic and hope to reflect the sense of a playful and carefree atmosphere.
