John Ennis

John Ennis, aged 46, was unseated from The Poet at the last hurdle at Coventry on March 14, 1860. Another horse struck him in the chest.

He was immediately taken to the Red Lion Inn and died there on March 16, 1860.

The print of horses' hooves could be seen on his stomach.

He left a wife and 3 small children. A fund was set up for them.
