The Rite of Acceptance is rite within RCIA which moves the emphasis of how those participating in RCIA who were once a Pre-catechumen, now become a catechumen.
Formally a person looking at joining the Catholic Church through RCIA begin as an inquirer and moves to a Precatechumenate. There is not distinct divider which separates the two. However as the person proceeds the emphasis on commitment is regarded and the person then moves from a Precatechumenate to a catechumen. This is done through the Rite of acceptance.
There are some items to the rite which require preparation. Allowing how the individuals can experience the rite is often left up to the discretion of the RCIA director to prepare them, the pastor to provide the essentials of the rite and the community to participate in the process.
