Theology – The study of God

Theos being Greek for “God.” And “ology” which is Greek for “The study of.” Put together it means the Study of God. While it covers information about God it goes after the question “who is God?” From this many things are derived; one of which is "God is the almighty and should be worshiped."

Theology is beneficial for understanding “About” God. It can be somewhat beneficial to know God, which should be our goal in life. As an example, when you set out to get to know someone sometimes you may go to another person and ask, “What is he/she like?” The answers help formulates a way of identifying a person so that when you meet the person face to face you can say “Aha this is that person!” (at least in your mind) Afterwards what follows is you begin to get to know the person at a personal level.

To know God begins with having to learn a little about Him. As you journey towards getting to know God you will run into some basic Theology to help you validate and understand something about Him. You have already encountered some basic theology when you learned that God IS being.
