(from the Greek word κήρυγμα kérugma) is a Greek word used in the New Testament for "preaching" (Luke 4:18-19, Romans 10:14, Matthew 3:1). It is also related to teaching as well.
The Catholic Church has as part of its mission, to participate in a very special way in the Story of Salvation. Part of this is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. The preaching (kerygma) of the Gospel is also characterized in many different ways. The other way the Church participates is by making the sacraments available. More about sacraments will be presented in a later lesson.
