People have watching films and movies for a very long time now, from a theater in the old days to cinemas and digital film in the present. Now that it has made its way into homes and televisions, food has become somewhat a part of this industry. Today, dessert chef Javier Burillo shares some food in a film that you can eat while you watch movies!
Sticky Toffee Pudding (Christmas in Connecticut)
This delicacy comes from a Christmas movie. Its recipe is very humble, yet its taste is very sweet and salty. First, get some Medjool dates, pit, and chop them. Place in a bowl and top with hot tea of choice. Let it soak for 30 minutes while you preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a square tray. Brown half a cup of butter in a pan. Javier Burillo notes that you keep a careful watch on the butter as it could burn. Afterward, puree the dates and tea in a blender. Mix in the brown butter, puree and add in a cup of white sugar, 2 tbsp of molasses and puree again for a minute. Add in 2 large eggs, a tsp of salt, and 1 ½ tsp of baking soda and puree until smooth. Pour the puree into a bowl and add in 1 ⅔ cup of flour. Fold it in, spread it into the tray, and bake it for 25-30 mins.
While the cake bakes, make the sauce by combining ½ cup of butter, a cup of heavy cream, and 1 ¼ cups of brown sugar. This all goes into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and continuously stir for 5-7 mins or until thick.
Cut squares into the cake and top it with your delicious sauce. Eat and enjoy, says Javier Burillo.
