Referring back to the intentions of the game, players have many ways to customise their character’s abilities, such as: levelling a skill to rank 3 or above to customise what it does, performing freeform magic ceremonies, creating new spells and masteries, making magic items or equipment, and so on.
When trying to decide what you want your abilities to do, we recommend looking at your character’s play style and asking for an ability that suits your theme, rather than picking a specific mechanic, unless you have one in mind. The game team will support you in the creation of any custom abilities, ensuring that they both are enjoyable to play with and fit within the game world.
We have created some examples to help you understand what you can ask for:
Theme: I want to be a wilderness scavenger
1 use per day, when in the woods, you may ask a referee to scavenge a resource from the area. The referee will give you a resource, with the rarity based on your surroundings. In addition, you start every event with 1 more alchemical concoction from the Alchemy List.
You start each event with an extra 1 uncommon, or 3 common resource cards. In addition, you start every event with 1 more alchemical concoction from the Alchemy List. This may come from the advanced list if you have been taught the recipe.
1 use per event, when you gain a resource in play, you may instead gain the next rarity up. So a common would become an uncommon. In addition, you start every event with 1 more alchemical concoction from the Alchemy List. This may come from the advanced list if you know the recipe.

1 use per day, at the end of a rallying speech, you may give all allies who were listening +1 VP, up to their maximum.
