We are incredibly fortunate to have Corky Larsen Jonasson guiding us through a traditional pipe ceremony, a profoundly sacred ritual for Indigenous people. The pipe ceremony encompasses various traditions, one of which stipulates that women in their moon time (menstrual cycle) should respectfully excuse themselves from participating. This precaution is rooted in the belief that their powerful energy could potentially disrupt the sanctity of the ceremony. Additionally, women are asked to wear a dress or skirt that extends beyond the knee; if unavailable, a blanket to cover the knees is recommended. Long pants are also accepted for this ceremony. Lastly, participants are urged to abstain from the use of drugs or alcohol for at least 48 hours preceding the pipe ceremony. We kindly request that you arrive at least ten minutes prior to the scheduled time as a gesture of respect for the ceremony and those taking part in it.
Please note that this breakout session is scheduled to take place starting at 7:45 AM in The Cenovus Energy Learning Common Â
