-IIT Jammu Organises Workshop on Internet of Things

A workshop on Internet of Things was organised in IIT Jammu on 6th september 2017 by a renowned person in the field of embedded systems and IoT, Dr.Amit Kumar of IIIT Kota , who is currently working on a project that will address the problems of blind people.

The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the students to a world of embedded systems, electronics and as the title suggests, Internet of Things. The workshop started with an introduction to Arduino Uno board, which is an ideal starter pack for IoT pursuers. Alongside arduino, Intel Galileo boards were also introduced. It was a complete hands on experience, like setting up the arduino, making codes for execution and seeing it work. And with time, many more things were also done that includes motor control using motor drivers, distance measurement using ultrasonic sensor and finally controlling the arduino by mobile phone using bluetooth communication modules.

The workshop was a first step towards a great technology which can be widely applied in fields like robotics and automation.
