Welcome to my site!

I'm Greg Shaffer, the John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Business & Public Policy at the University of Rochester's Simon Business School. I am a member of the Marketing (MKT) and Economics and Management (E&M) groups here at the Simon Business School, and I am the proud founder and current director of the School’s Center for Pricing.

Much of my research focuses on pricing and channels-related issues in the fields of Marketing, Industrial Organization, and Antitrust Economics. My work has appeared in the American Economic Review; the Journal of Political Economy; Management Science; Marketing Science; the Rand Journal of Economics; the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics; the Economic Journal; the Journal of Law & Economics; the Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization, the European Economic Review, Quantitative Marketing and Economics, the Journal of Economics & Management Strategy, the Journal of Industrial Economics, and the International Journal of Industrial Organization.

Currently, I teach Pricing Policies to Masters and MBA students. I have also taught Advanced Pricing to MBA students, and I have taught Topics in Industrial Organization, Issues in Vertical Contracting, and The Economics of Exclusion to PhD students.

I am an Associate Editor at Management Science, a Co-Editor at the Journal of Economics & Management Strategy, and an Associate Editor at the Journal of Economics & Business. I have also had the honor of serving as an Associate and Guest Senior Editor at Marketing Science, and Associate Editor at Quantitative Marketing and Economics.

On a personal note, I am married (Annie) and have two sons (Ryan and Nathan). Also, as you can see from my picture, I like to play chess. I don't, however, typically wear a suit and tie when I do so! You can find my extended bio and other useful information here.
