Retail design:
We were tasked to redesign an already existing pop-up and make a mockup of the pop-up using SketchUp.
I picked the Hermesmatic, a laundromat-based pop-up created to rejuvenate Hermès' timeless silk scarves. This interactive experience enables current patrons to revitalize their beloved, well-worn Hermès scarves through a dip-dye washing process. Additionally, it provides the chance to acquire a unique scarf from the vintage dip-dye collection.
and I made it into HERMES HUES, a dip dye workshop to commemorate 80 years of its iconic silk scarves with pop-up that are not only nostalgic but also fun. It’s an art class-themed pop-up with elements of an art room like the iconic stools and sinks, easels, piles and piles of used canvases and drying racks. this pop up allows customers to experience the dip dye activity in an art room- something familiar and simple like an art room that we all have been in at least once in our lives before- some blast to the past with the nostalgic environment or it can help unleash the inner artist that is hidden in all of us. the art room environment also is a way to communicate to the customers that they are in there to make art and the way the scarves are showcased- hung up, pinned on canvases and drying racks like fresh artwork, the scarves are the pieces of art, that are not only stylish but also to be admired.
Retail space planning:
We are to select a brand and propose a new store layout with new features to promote their new collection and make a mockup of such on SketchUp.
I picked evisu to redesign. The new evisu 2.0 is based off of the ss24 collection, and its bold and vibrant graphics are ever so present in their new designs for this collection. The graphics decorate the entrances and even paint the insides. With this new layout having many fun new elements, the brightly coloured decals are just one of the beginnings. Keeping to the wood and street style theme of evisu, the fixtures to display the clothes does reflect as such. There are also additional novelty dice chairs to allow customers to have a seat as they browse. There are also two speed bumps in the store to keep the customers busy in-store, with an exclusive spread of prints and stickers of the art on the new pieces so customers can decorate their homes with a little evisu essence, and they can be surrounded with evisu in more than one way. There is also a photo taking area with the darumas and signaturely evisu elements so customers would stay in store longer and perhaps take a photo or two to post on Instagram or any socials to give evisu more publicity. next to that is the Powerwall, that is deep enough in the store and near enough to the entrance to bring customers into the store. it is a wall with evisu’s signature, its denim. The cashier area is also branded with evisu. the fitting rooms are elongated so as to make photo taking more flattering with the angles that a further distance can give, there is also a qr code on the wall so for customers to scan to bring them to an Instagram filter with the same print that decorates the entrance, this is also to promote photo taking and boost engagement of customers. The signature seagull logo decorates the whole store, especially in their second entrance that greets customers with a denim rack, with their denim hung in an interesting manner to entice the customers to take a look. The whole evisu make over is just a very fun and colourful evisu ready for their ss24 collection.
