Palau's Endangered & Threatened Species
Disclaimer: The Republic of Palau has not yet adopted an official Endangered Species List. Until an official National Endangered Species List is adopted by MNRET, GEF6 policies on Endangered and Threatened Species shall only apply to GEF6-funded projects.
Policy Statement: GEF6 projects are to avoid removing, reducing the populations of, or negatively impacting any species on the Palau Endangered and Threatened Species List (adopted or proposed).
In the event of negative impact on an endangered or threatened species, mitigation must be included.
The list of Endangered or Threatened species shall include species recommended as such by the Belau National Museum (BNM) or published in the NEPC’s State of the Environment (SOE) Report: 2019 SOE: Endangered marine species - p. 50; Endangered terrestrial species - p. 63.
Until an official National Endangered Species List is adopted by MNRET, this policy shall only apply to GEF6-funded projects.
