Jacob Yangilmau

At 7:00 am on the day of the event, Jacob started to worry. He packaged his earrings in little plastic bags. Was that biodiversity-friendly? "Should I still come? What if I don't meet the criteria?" he texted the organizer. "It's fine, come. This is also a learning process," the organizer replied.

Well, by 9:00 Jacob had figured out that he didn't need plastic bags! He offered his earings on white index cards instead, and sold out all 50 pairs!

Northern Reefs Fisheries Coop

At the Showcase, ladies from the Northern Reefs Fisheries Coop made arrangements with weavers from Kayangel to weave gift packaging for locally-canned pelagic fish products. Woven bags will replace plastic bags!

Palasia

Palasia avoided all plastics during the Showcase, offering paper bento boxes, wooden cutlery, chopsticks packaged in paper, and jugs of water and iced tea.

Lilian

Lilian did not participate in the showcase. Intrigued, she reached out to the organizers about her products, made from all imported materials.

Realizing she did not meet the criteria for the showcase, Lilian decided that she would spend the next year trying out eco-friendly practices, and that she would use this year's showcase as an opportunity to learn from others.
