Visite guidée au Musée de Fourvière de l'artiste Albert Gleizes.
Nous avons eu le plaisir d’avoir un groupe de 18 personnes pour participer, sous la houlette de Madame Jouvinroux, guide mandatée par le Musée de Fourvière, à la visite de l’exposition d’Albert Gleizes (1881-1953) et de ses disciples : Anne Dangar, céramiste, le peintre Robert Pouyaud et le le peintre./céramiste Jean-Claude Libert, tous membres de la communauté créée par Gleizes à Moly-Sabata, Sablons en Ardèche et qui est devenue la Fondation Albert Gleizes toujours très active. Ensuite, une partie du groupe est allée au Café-Restaurant de Fourvière échanger en anglais ses impressions autour d’un thé et chocolat chaud tout en admirant la vue imprenable sur notre belle ville de Lyon.

Une visite de l'exposition "Antarctica" au Musée des Confluences
Pour la sortie Lugdumen, une douzaine de personnes a visité l’exposition “Antarctica au Musée des Confluences, réalisée par Luc Jacquet. Ce continent est uniquement accessible aux missions scientifiques internationales. Nous avons plongé dans les profondeurs de l’Océan antarctique et grâce aux fantastiques vidéos et photos du plongeur/photographe, Laurent Ballesta, nous avons été transportés par la beauté de cet oasis de glace. L’exposition s’est terminée dans une salle circulaire où des écrans immenses étalaient une vue à 360° qui nous a immergés au cœur de la banquise où nous avions l’impression de nous promener à la découverte de l’extraordinaire biodiversité de ce continent blanc. Ensuite, le groupe a jeté un coup d’œil rapide à l’exposition « A vos pieds » qui montre de l’importance et de la diversité des chaussures que les personnes portent dans le monde entier.
Nous avons terminé par une tasse de thé au Comptoir Gourmand situé au 4ème étage du Musée autour d’un quiz préparé par Michèle Baldwin en Anglais et en Français sur Antarctica, qui s'est révélé très amusant..

Visite au Musée Africain : un groupe de 12 personnes ont apprécié les explications de notre guide Mme Lucille Michaux nous abreuvant d’anecdotes comme celle des statuettes représentant les jumeaux (voir ci-après). Ensuite, nous avons poursuivi avec plaisir la discussion en anglais à l’Ethic Café à proximité du Musée.
Origine de la vénération des jumeaux chez les Yoruba
Les singes se nourrissant des produits d’un fermier, celui-ci décida de les exterminer. Un jour, sa femme étant enceinte, les singes se vengèrent en se transformant en abiku (enfants mourant peu après leur naissance) et entrèrent dans le ventre de la femme qui accoucha de jumeaux qui moururent rapidement.
A chaque grossesse, elle accouchait de jumeaux qui ne survivaient pas.
Le fermier consulta le devin qui lui expliqua que le problème venait des singes, celui-ci arrêta de les pourchasser. La colère des singes étant passée, les autres jumeaux survécurent devenant des demi-dieux avec le pouvoir de récompenser ou punir les humains d’où les statuettes de jumeaux qui symbolisent non seulement la fertilité mais aussi la prospérité.

Par une journée particulièrement chaude, le groupe a visité les serres et le jardin botanique du Parc de la Tête d’Or sous la houlette du jardinier Jean-Pierre Grienay très érudit dans la mythologie classique et botanique pour une visite guidée des plantes étranges et mystérieuses !
Parmi elles, le cerbera considéré comme une plante mortelle, le gaiac dont le bois est très robuste et qui est le symbole de la Reine Mère chez les Mayas et les Aztèques.
La visite s’est terminée par un petit repas à la Buvette des Cygnes au bord du Lac.

Rendez-vous était pris pour le spectacle dans le cadre des Amphi-midis de l’Opéra de Lyon pour assister au ballet “Tous en Scène”, un spectacle de 5 courtes pièces créées par les jeunes danseurs sous le tutorat de leurs enseignants de l’Ensemble Chorégraphique du Département de Danse du Conservatoire Régional de Lyon.
La sortie était suivie du traditionnel repas en anglais au Restaurant l’Opéra Bouffe à proximité.

Lors de notre première sortie de la saison 2017-2018, le mardi 17 octobre, un groupe de 10 personnes a eu le plaisir d’une visite guidée en Anglais des coulisses du théâtre des Célestins, conduite par Madame Marie-Françoise PALLUY-ASSEILY, responsable des Relations Publiques. Elle nous a fait découvrir l’arrière de la scène et dévoiler les secrets suite à la rénovation qui a lieu entre 2003 et 2005 ; notamment, dans le sous sol, sont conservés les squelettes de deux moines qui rappellent que le Théâtre a été construit sur les vestiges d’un monastère… !
Andrée Moratin encadre cette réunion conviviale mensuelle pour parler d’un livre écrit en langue anglaise.
Mme Marie-Francoise PAULLUY-ASSEILY est à droite.
Les livres sont proposés par les membres du groupe et les titres sont connus quelques mois à l'avance. Ceci nous permet d'obtenir le livre, le lire, ensuite nous le discutons lors de la prochaine rencontre.
Les réunions ont lieu le dernier vendredi du mois.

Il faut préciser que les groupes de conversation en anglais ne sont pas des leçons en anglais. Ils sont composés de Français qui aiment parler anglais.
