MORNING COFFEE
This instinctive inner yearning
For the very first bowl of coffee in the morning
From the moment I’m awake
My thoughts revolve around the drink to take
Of course in bed it's warm and cosy
But not those first summer sun rays only
Make me get up, go down into the kitchen
I pursue my morning’s caffeine addiction
This old espresso machine, Italian style
Calls me, makes me waiting for a while
To enhance the joyful thrill of anticipation
Patience, patience
Even before I take my shower
Fill in that finely ground brown coffee powder
Three spoonful for a bowl
For which, without remorse, I sell my soul
Never modern capsules from Georges Clooney
That surface lightly brown and spumy
The water pressures through the mokka
To wake me up, enjoy that strong aroma
Creamy with a strong Colombian flavour
Look forward to that full sweet smelling savour
An upper layer that resembles silk
Always without sugar, always without milk
I wet my lips, take the first sip
Man and coffee what a good relationship
Written for the poet’s day
On August 21th
LA MESSE A DRUILLAT LE 6 AOÛT
OU LA MÈRE
La belle église du village
Rénovée avec style et goût
Claire et accueillante
La messe, plus tous les dimanches
Les fidèles nombreux dans les bancs
Personnes âgées bien sûr
Mémé Alice qui marche mal maintenant
En premier rang la famille du château
Pourquoi les prêtres sont tous africains?
Déjà le premier chant entonné
Quand cette famille arrive
Et s'assied dans la nef droite
Le banc, pas assez long pour six
Les parents, quatre enfants
Douze, dix ans: les filles
Huit, six ans: les garcons
Qui avec qui ?
Finalement père et filles
Les garçons avec la mère devant
Elle, ni belle, ni laide,
Vêtements discrets
Pas maquillée
Fascinant
Comme tous sont à genoux souvent
Sauf la fille,
Près du père, la plus âgée
Quand la mère n'a pas la tête baissée
Les mains jointes pour prier
Elle se ronge les ongles
