Monday 6th French Conversation Group


   This group will be of particular interest to English-speakers who want to improve their French, and to French-speakers who will be able        to exchange ideas and points of view on various topics with them, in French.

   Meetings normally take place at Michèle Baldwin’s flat. 

   The next meeting will be Monday 6th May at 2.15 pm.

Monday 13th  The English Conversation in the afternoon normally meets on Monday afternoons. The next meeting will be on Monday 13th May 3.00 pm at Les Maréchaux, 4 Av. Maréchal de Saxe.

Thursday 16th           Poets Group

   In April our topic was CRIME. In Sylvie M.'s poem a child greedily massacres a chocolate Easter bunny. She also found Earth Is Dying by Crystal Pratt. Joseph wrote Criminal Recipes. He also came with L'heure du crime:  his hands are bloody red with red berry jam he's just cooking.  The dark knight is back in Anne's poem: the end of the earth is near.  George wrote about Little Household Crimes for which he pleads guilty in advance. Dietmar illustrated crime during The Quais Du Polar in Lyon.

   Our next meeting will be on Thursday 16 May at 3.30 pm in room No.11 at la Mairie du 6e, 37 Rue Bossuet 69006 Lyon. Topics with v : VOICES or/and VOLCANO.

Friday 17th English-Speaking Lunch

Thursday 23rd Ciné Group

People who are interested in watching an English speaking and interesting film, one at least, a month should send their address to Georgette in order to be informed as soon as possible!

Place and time will to be sent later.

Georgette would appreciate those on the group mailing list letting her know whether they are planning to attend or not by phone, text or email.

Friday 24th         Book Circle 

   The next book circle will take place on Friday 24 May at 2 pm. The book chosen for May is “This other Eden” by Paul Harding, shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2023.

 The plot is based on the historically true destiny of the inhabitants of Malaga Island in Maine who  lived as an integrated interracial  community from the American Civil War until 1911 when the residents were forcibly evicted.

  The novel will let us share about many issues explored by the author, such as civilization and tolerance, resilience and welfare, freedom and       racism.

      Our meeting will take place at La Mairie du 6e, 37, rue Bossuet (back entrance), room 10, 4th floor. 

  Metro line A - stop Massena, Bus 38, Parking LPA Morand, Place Maréchal Lyautey.
