CURRENT ACTIVITIES
We were only four last Thursday discussing the poems we wrote and that you sent.
Georgette named different every day moments when people are scolded they'd be ashamed. Anne underlined that
adults should be ashamed when treating defenseless children wrong. Dietmar quoted the song, sung by Johnny Cash
"A BOY NAMED SUE". Georges finds the present situation a shame. So many people innocent people suffering during
war. Sylvie described our Shameful Indifference towards homeless, begging people.
Next meeting : Thursday, May 7th at 3pm. Mind the change of time, half an hour earlier than usual and the
first Thursday of the month.
Topic: a particular OBJECT that has a special meaning to you, something that you use every day or something that
you saw only once.

The next Book circle will be held on May 22nd at 2 pm as usual.
The book which has been chosen to be discussed is “The god of small things”, winner of the Booker prize in 1997.
The author, Arundhati Roy, born in Kerala in 1961 will take us to Ayemenem, a small village in the southern Indian
province of Kerala.
The story is about two fraternal twins in India whose lives are dictated by tragedies in their past. Significant themes
include family, loyalty, forbidden love, colonialism/post-colonialism, education discrimination, and social class
inequality.
Our meeting will take place at La Mairie du 6e, 37, rue Bossuet (back entrance), room 10, 4th floor.
