Engineering is always a rough term to find a clear definition for these quotes show how it has evolved over time but still lacks a clear representation because there is still yet more to it.

"Everything around us that is not a simple untouched piece of nature has been designed by someone"

Some might argue, what about the forests? to me even the forests that are "untouched" have some aspect of design into them. though we do not directly design the forests. someone designates the areas that are protected. likewise with endangered species and etc. someone is there making plans on what areas can and cannot or should and should not be used.
