REFLECTION

My thoughts when i hear or see the word "Manufacturing" immediately leans towards the side of an assembly line or videos I've seen of cars being put together in the production stage, with the robotic arms, welding moving, painting and completing other tasks involved. As a result when signing up for this class i was expecting a more hands on approach to using machinery involved in product manufacturing, not necessarily large machines but perhaps ones involved in the making of smaller items.

However, my expectations have changed after the intro for the course, to include not just the end stages of manufacturing but also the processes that are in effect prior to those stages. Manufacturing is more than just the assembly lines, its also the processes that go into the product production. It starts with an idea then planning, resource gathering, storage, resource refinement, to molding, assembling, quality checking, perhaps the packaging shipping and finally the sale.

Overall, i look forward to the rest of this course. Though i do have some idea of the things involved in manufacturing, I've never fully given it thought into each stage. I hope to learn more about the different processes and systems involved in manufacturing. That i myself may broaden my understanding in order to one day be able to teach it to my own students.
