3 Things I want to learn about engineering.

• What is engineering? It is such a broad and general field with specific types of engineers so i feel a general definition wouldn't encompass the entirety of what engineering truly is.

• What are the processes involved in engineering? I want to know what role do engineers play in these processes.

• Whats the difference between electrician vs electrical engineer, and likewise in different respective fields such as architect vs architectural engineer?

How does doing differ from knowing?

In my own words doing is the application of knowing. To effectively do something you must have the know how to properly do it. However, you may do things without fully knowing an example of this is subconscious behaviors.

Likewise, someone may know things without directly doing it. To me an example of this would be watching a YouTube video on how a certain task is done. In that sense you know because you've seen it being done.

Another example is what i expect this course may be like, we learn the processes involved in engineering without being engineers, we know how its done but have not personally done it.

In engineering, what does it mean that you know something about engineering?

I think it means that you know a certain specific field of engineering not necessarily engineering in general. For example if you are an electrical engineer you know about electricity but aren't adept in lets say agricultural engineering. It is two separate fields of knowledge yet both are considered to be "engineers" in general.
