The importance of community-based activities in Disaster Risk Management
As the populations themselves are both the first to be affected by nearby risks and the first responders during disasters, community-based activities are essential and a priority.
These activities aim to reduce vulnerability to disaster risks by enhancing risk awareness and strengthening the community’s capacity to prevent, adapt, monitor, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergency situations.
