Mitigation efforts, also referred to as anticipatory or risk-reduction measures, consist of actions and measures designed to reduce or lessen the negative impacts of climate-related hazards. This includes the implementation of community-level protection strategies, such as building small dykes to reduce flooding, installing avalanche barriers, clearing drainage channels and building footbridges to maintain access to basic social services during floods.
The definition and prioritisation of these community efforts are documented in the Community Risk Reduction Plan developed following Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments.
