A Community Early Warning System (CEWS) represents the most local level of an EWS. It aims to establish people and mechanisms for monitoring, alerting and communication within communities to ensure a faster and more effective response to disaster risks.
CEWS are responsible for two key functions: monitoring hazards, crises, or disasters—including early warning—and communicating information to authorities and the population.
