Romsey - Pulborough Trophy

According to the plaque on the trophy, it was made by a member of the district and presented by David Plunkett, who was District Commissioner from 1965 to 1970. The other plaque explains the reason and the name of the trophy: 'While camping as a young Scout at Pulborough, Sussex, David Plunkett was saved by his brother Scouts from drowning. These scouts had been trained to deal with such an emergency and took the action for which he has been forever grateful and mindful of the wisdom of being prepared.' Then follow the words 'Be Wise - Be Prepared', which presumably account for the owl.

More recently, the Romsey Guides Division have also taken part in the same District eliminator competition, for which the highest placed Guides Patrol is awarded a shield also called the Pulborough Trophy.
