To acquire a better knowledge of my magazine's audiences' interests and preferences, I performed a survey with a wide range of questions about my topic of interest. This questionnaire will assist me in determining exactly what I will need to include in my magazine to increase its popularity. This will aid in the refinement of both my codes and conventions, as well as the core idea.
The survey's first two questions focused on the audience's age and gender. These questions will help me determine which ages and genders prefer which covers, colour schemes, cover design, and layout, allowing me to establish a common ground where my magazine will appeal to everyone.
This section focuses on magazine consumption within my target audience. By asking questions such as 'How many times do you read/purchase magazines?', I was able to identify consumption trends, allowing me to set an appropriate frequency of when to release issues and other aspects of my magazine. This section will also identify the amount of payment it would be suitable to charge my audience. Along with this, it will give me an insight into which online platforms my audience is most active on.
This particular section focuses on my magazine genre concerning other magazine genres as well. The questions revolve around the audience's knowledge of the fashion genre and what they would prefer as a sub-genre. It also identifies the most attractive feature of the magazine to the general audience.
This area of the survey could be the most essential and informative. It focuses on individual colour preferences, design, opinions on the main theme, and ideas for sell and cover lines. This will assist me in deciding the key elements of my magazine while keeping the majority's views and what is 'loved' by the audience in mind. It will also provide me a detailed breakdown of what elements I should prioritise.
Evaluation
While the survey I’ve created is detailed and covers a wide range of audience opinions, after receiving the responses and running it through people, I’ve noticed a few things I would change. Rather than providing an option for the commenters to give their personalized ideas and views, I would make the majority of the questions completely close-ended to streamline all the responses into clear categories making the data analysis precise and more objective. I do, however, like that, I’ve covered a range of questions regarding genre, magazine style and preferences. As the product I am creating is being distributed to consumers, creating a product that fits the majority’s taste not only would increase sales but popularity as well. All in all, the survey is well-balanced and precisely detailed encompassing all elements I would want to acquire answers to.
