Magic is Elysium has lost much of its power over the centuries but is still holding on in a few lines of unicorns. Elemental magic is the most common form of magic and is derived from one of the four naturally occurring elements: Fire, Water, Earth and Air.
The strength of a unicorns magic can be broken into three classes that defines what characters are capable of doing with their magic. Conjurer is the first level of magic which allows basic tricks and is considered the average power level for magic users. Warlocks are slightly above average in their abilities. They can usually channel more powerful spells and preform sizable feats. Sages are the highest level of magic user. Sages were great leaders in the ‘Before Times’ and all are thought to have died hundreds of years ago. Their abilities trump all others and legends state they could face down the most deadly of foes.
Magical abilities stack, meaning that a Warlock is capable of doing all the things a Conjurer can just like a Sage can do all the listed magics. It does not work in reverse unless extreme circumstances are met.
In times of distress or danger, Unicorns can sometimes be pushed into Magical Duress, a state in which their magic lashes out in an attempt to protect its host. In these moments, the unicorn's capable of performing 1 spell/feat from the magical level above them. IE a Conjurer could perform a spell or feat from the Warlock level.
While dazzling, these moments can be dangerous and always leave the user physically exhausted. In extreme cases the victim may pass out and remain asleep until their state stabilizes.
Unicorns who have awoken their magic are able to use it in battle! This gives our unicorns a fighting chance against the monsters of Elysium be it a slithering beast or a fiendish blight! The available magic attacks/spells can be found here: Elysium Unicorn Magical Attack Book
Our combat and Magic systems are based of D&D 5e.
In combat scenarios, players may choose for their character to enter Magical Duress when their HP falls at or below 1/4 of their total. This will allow their character to use a spell 1 level higher than their maximum. However when combat ends their character will be rendered unconscious and will have to tended to in order to be woken.

Leaving scorched hoofprints and markings
Sneezing fire and breathing cinders
Creating small bursts of flame. Can be maintained for short periods of time.
Warlock
Attacking with fire breath
Breathing prolonged flames
Capable of lighting self on fire unharmed
Capable of lighting non-flammable items on fire (IE rocks and 'green wood')
Radiating heat (enough to warm a small space or area)
Hooves and Horn can glow hot with heat
Sage
Produce dangerous hot temperature flame (can melt metal and stone)
Producing fire of different colors
Explosively dangerous fire breath
Capable of pulling heat from other sources to warm themselves
Ability to influence the molding of melted metals.
Ability to effect the temperature of a large area (IE Radiate massive amounts of heat)
Spontaneous combust flammable objects

Growing grass and flowers around themselves and where they walk.
Encouraging large plants to grow.
Ability to detect soil futility.
Ability to find crystals such as Quartz, Amethyst and Garnet. (Common gems)
Ability to move earth with ease (ie dig small-medium holes)
Ability to control the movement vines and weave branches.
Ability to influence the growth of bark (IE make wooden armor)
Warlock
Ability to grow grass, herbs, flowers and small shrubbery at a rapid rate.
Ability to make plants to bloom out of season and make fruit grow out of season.
Ability to speed the growth of trees (10 years of growth in a week).
Ability to tell the health of a plant instinctively.
Ability to find semi-precious gems.
Ability to mold softer stones and rock.
Sage
Ability to ripen entire orchids and fields out of season or multiple times a year.
Ability to speed the growth of trees (20 years of growth in a week)
Ability to heal plants
Ability to find Precious Gems (Ie Diamonds, Emeralds, Ruby's)
Ability to mold any type of rock into any shape
Can trigger rock slides and localized earthquakes

Directing small - medium amounts of water (ie redirecting small streams, creating waves on lakes)
Affinity for swimming (ie swimming faster than you can run)
Direct raindrops within a metre
Power to create obscuring fog (good for a quick get away, covers less than half a mile)
Ability to detect nearby water
Ability to manipulate small well hydrated plants and pull water from them (will kill the plant)
Instinctively knowing the current moon phase
Ability to create healing dews and acidic water
Warlock
Directing large amounts of water (Ie redirecting rivers, being able to part moving water)
Levitate and control medium amounts of water (moving water through open air)
Control minor amounts of water inside another creature. (Cause nose bleeds, affect blood vessels to cause discomfort and dizziness)
Pull larger amounts of water from plants of larger sizes (will kill plant)
Ability to cleanse/clean water. (Make salt water drinkable or clean dirty water)
Ability to create more potent healing dews and toxic solutions
Sage
Directing huge amounts of water (Controlling rivers, parting large lakes and standing bodies of water)
Ability to walk on water and breathe under water.
Levitate large amounts of water
Control water inside another creature (Ability to cause internal bleeding, aneurysms, exploding organs and stop blood flow)
Pull water out of the air and large plants.
