When will the group have openings?
- Join requests are open just about 24/7. We may occasionally close join requests to catch up on submissions or restock the design pool but it will never be for long!
Why do I have to answer all those questions to join?
- We ask new members to fill out our form first of all to make sure we offer the member designs they'll enjoy! We try to include at least 1 design with a feature you mention liking as well as a design with your favorite magic strain. The other questions are good things to know before starting your journey. All the answers can be found on the website.
Is this group like those other wild horse type groups?
- Yes and no. At our core we run the group like a wild horse sim only we have unicorns! However our game is a little more story and rp based with some D&D style elements thrown in. We use a lot of dice rolls here to determine outcomes and to decide how NPCs may react!
How do I get my starter unicorn?
- Once you fill out our joining form a mod will roll three potential designs from our pool to chose from! We make sure to have at least one that has your preferred magic strain and as many of your preferred features as possible.
Do I have to start with a stallion or mare?
- Up to you! Unlike other groups you can choose between a stallion or mare to begin your voyage. Just know that once you make your choice, it can't be changed!
Can I design my starter horse?
- Your first starter horse must come from the design pool. But you can make a custom horses with custom tokens! These are purchasable with gems or may be given as prizes during special events.
How do I get a playable dragon!?
- Playable dragons can be obtained by encountering one with your lead unicorn or by completing Titan Quests.
Can I start with a dragon?
- Sadly no :c But players are free to obtain their starter unicorn and immediately take on a Titan Quest! Dragons can also be made into leaders down the line if you just want to use a dragon. This could be done in a number of ways. They could take over the unicorns herd by chasing them off (thus returning their starter unicorn to the group pool) or perhaps they...choose a more nefarious end >>
How do I get more horses into my herd?
- RNG! Every time you post a story or image of your horse exploring Elysium you'll earn gems and you may encounter a wild horse! For more info on this, review this Journal.
Do I need to draw a reference for my lead horse?
- It's not required but if you want to, feel free! All your horses art/stories will be logged on his/her imported design.
Can I create NPCs?
- You're welcome to write about your horses parents/birth herd/siblings but other unicorn NPCs aren't possible. Because of the limited number of unicorns in the world you can't mention them unless you've encountered them before. NPCs of other Elysium creatures are just fine however!
There's an in-game passage of time?
- In order to give the game some realism (I know, unicorns and realism? Come on...) and to ensure parents age appropriately with foals we DO have an in-game passage of time! This is listed on the home page with the current in game season and year. Once season = one month in RL time allowing for a full year to pass in 4 months IRL.
When can I breed my horses?
- Technically you can breed at any time of the year. However certain seasons come with risks and failure rates. More about this can be found here.
When are foals born?
- Foals take 2 seasons in-game to be born, their gestation time shortened thanks to magic! Mares can come into season at various times of the year but foals are always born 2 months after a breeding submission is received.
Can I write about herd members without mentioning my Leader?
- You certainly can! However not including your herd leader means the submission will not be eligible for side quests or encounters.
How do I obtain a companion for my unicorn?
- Companions are obtainable through a random side quest! Otherwise they may be a potential prize during special group events. They may also be available in future NPC shops.
How do I claim a wild unicorn?
- Wild unicorns can be encountered in a number of ways. It can be at random, through the use of a luring Trumpet or by taking on a quest. Once a wild unicorn is encountered and it's one you wish to claim your character has to make an effort to convince them to join them! This should either be clearly illustrated or written about somewhere in the submission so mods know you wish to claim this horse. Mods will never force anyone to claim a horse they encounter. If it's not clearly stated in some way that you wish to claim the encounter, mods will assume you do not want the design and the encounter will leave. Players need to be CLEAR to mods that they do or DO NOT want a design, otherwise the encounter will simply leave.
