Legends and myths are commonplace in Elysium. So much so that most assume every rumor and tall tale they hear are just make believe! However it turns out that one old story is, in fact, based on fact! Unicorns lucky enough to discover either a comet flower or sun plum in their adventures will learn that consuming these items grant them temporary abilities!! What abilities you may ask? Well the power to see through the guise of one such Elysium legend!
Lunar'corn or "Moon-a-corn" is a sub species of unicorn that has existed in great secrecy for centuries. Because of their separation from the greater herds, Lunar Unicorns have distinctly different body types but also, their own unique markings and genetics. Despite this, they are capable of cross breeding to the standard Elysium Unicorns. Lunar unicorns have their own distinct strain of magic unique only to their kind which is also referred to as 'Lunar Magic'.
All Lunar 'corns lack a horn and, instead, possess a head crest which grows from the back of their skull. Male Lunar'corns will also grow a thin skin like membrane which connects to their necks and the underside of the horn. Colts begin growing this membrane when they reach maturity around 3 years of age.
Lunar unicorns wander Elysium just like any other creature but are able to do so in total secrecy thanks to their magic. Consuming a Comet Flower will allow a character of the players choice to 'see through' the illusion of Lunar magic and encounter these special unicorns! However players should make certain that they detail when their characters do so. Lunar unicorns are nocturnal and will only be able to be found at night.
The effect of the Comet Flower will last for several submissions so if a player doesn't roll to encounter one on their first night time adventure there is still a chance they could encounter one on the next one!
Comet Flower Cool Down
Comet Flowers are actually mildly toxic to Elysium Unicorns and can become harmful if consumed in large amounts or within short periods of time. Because of this, the item itself has a cooldown timer before another can be consumed. Players must wait 7 real life days before using another one of these items. Additionally, Sun Plums have this same effect. Unicorns can no consume both items at once nor can they use them back to back. Should a player want to use the items back to back they may but they will have to be consumed by different characters.

All Solar'corns possess a singluar horn which has migrated down to the center of their skull but above their nostrils. Additionally, they possess a head frill which grows from the back of their skull. Male Solar'corns always have much larger frills than females marked with dimorphic markings meant for wooing mares. These frills may also sprout horns from the edges. Females also possess frills but they are significantly smaller.

The traditional Elysium Unicorn is unable to see these Ethereal Unicorns without the aid of the two above mentioned plants. However should a player have a herd leader who is an Ethereal Unicorn (be it solar or lunar) they do not have to use these items to find other Ethereals. Solar and Lunar unicorns are capable of dispelling one another magics and can thus see one another without the use of these items.
When rolling encounters for Ethereal leaders, other wild solar and lunar unicorns are added as normal encounter types.
