Promotion Policy

PROMOTION & RETENTION POLICY

Regular Promotion

A student qualifies for regular promotion to the next grade level with all passing final grades (Year Average) in all academic subjects and a yearly cumulative grade average (CGPA) of 1.70 and above. 

Summer School Requirement for Promotion

A student whose yearly CGPA falls between 1.50 and 1.70 will be required to attend summer school in Language Arts and Math with the following required summer grades for promotion to the next grade level.

Automatic Retention

A student with a yearly CGPA below 1.50, even without an "F," will be retained. Similarly, a student with three or more "F's" as final grades will be automatically retained.

Double Promotion

Students who have proven to be exceptionally gifted may be considered for promotion to multiple grade levels by a special committee. Students who are to be treated as exceptionally gifted must be verified with an official IQ test and the results must score 131 or above. Special committee members include: School Director, Registrar, Guidance Counselor, affected Grade Level (HR and subject) teachers, Principal of Academic Administration, and affected Section Principals.

ENGLISH PROMOTION POLICY (Transition)

Grade 5 to Grade 6

Grade 8 to Grade 9

2. A student who achieves less in any of the above criteria must take Summer Enrichment English.

3. A student will earn the following grades in Summer Enrichment English:

4. A student who has missed any criteria above without taking Summer Enrichment English will automatically have to take Language Development 1 (without English I) in Grade 9.

MATH PROMOTION POLICY 

Grade 5 to Grade 6

Eligibility Requirements:

 

Grade 5 to Grade 6

A. Advance Math

Criterion 1:  A cumulative Math grade (i.e. Qtr1 + Qtr2 + Qtr3) of B and above

Criterion 2: NWEA MAP score of 225 and above in Math

 

B. Regular Math

Students who do not meet the above criteria will go for Regular Math.
