Anti-Bullying Policy
Ekamai International School offers a safe environment where students can thrive socially and academically, without being afraid. Bullying will not be tolerated within and outside the school campus. Bullying is a repeated behavior that is intentional and creates risk to health and safety. It is the intention to hurt others socially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is considered a serious violation in EIS.
Bullying is unwanted, hurtful, upsetting, frightening, or aggressive behavior by an individual or group towards other students. It is an action that is repeated and has the potential to be repeated over time which can lead to distress, pain, and anxiety.
Verbal bullying such as calling names and verbal harassment (teasing)
Social Exclusion
Physical bullying such as pushing, hitting or kicking
Telling lies and spreading false rumors
Taking, damaging, or hiding away others personal property.
Threatening or forcing someone to do things they do not want to do
Racial bullying
Religious bullying
Sexual bullying
Cyber-bullying (via phones on social media eg. facebook, EG, LINE, YouTube etc)
Bullying Prevention
Here are some activities taking place at EIS to prevent bullying.
Counselors from each level prepare lesson plans on bullying prevention to increase awareness, where students may join in activities like, role-play in a class, short videos, essays, debate, etc
Guest speakers are invited to speak on child and their behaviors, to the parents to learn more about their child
Other things are being done to prevent bullying
Every school year before the enrollment, all the students and parents are asked to read the school enrollment application form carefully and sign, where bullying in any form is not allowed, is written on that application form
Posters and pamphlets on kindness, helpfulness, and love are found in classrooms and hallways to increase anti-bullying awareness
What to do: Report any bullying incidents to a teacher or Section Principal. All reports of bullying will be investigated, and serious disciplinary measures will be taken (the reporter’s name will be kept confidential).
