Electronic Devices Policy
Using personal electronic devices while on campus is a privilege and is subject to the guidelines outlined below. This privilege may be revoked at any time at the administration's discretion.
Phones , Tablets & Other Devices
Middle Schoolers must refrain from bringing mobile phones to school. If they do, these must be surrendered to the homeroom teachers after the flag line-up. The mobile phones will be returned at 2:20 pm. Parents can contact the homeroom teachers or the office personnel in an emergency.
The devices can only be used with the permission of the homeroom teacher.
Mobile phones and electronic devices brought to school can be confiscated by the teachers/staff and submitted to the principal’s office when used during school hours and break time. Only parents can collect them from the principal’s office.
All mobile phones must be switched off before entering the classroom, library, auditorium, or any designated area. It will be confiscated if it rings or causes any disturbance inside any areas mentioned previously.
EIS will not be responsible for any damage to the mobile phone or any electronic devices that are confiscated and kept by the teachers or the office.
Overnight Trips and Field Trips: These trips are considered school time. As such, phones may be prohibited on these trips. For camps, phones will be handed to the homeroom teachers/facilitators during the assembly time and be given out at night to contact parents before lights out. No phones or other devices are allowed to remain with the students overnight.
Smartwatches
Smartwatches must be handed to teachers during tests, exams, or in other academic settings.
Students are not allowed to use smartwatches for communicating purposes such as texting, making calls, or using messaging apps, during learning hours.
Listening Devices
To cultivate a positive interpersonal school community, headphones, earphones, earbuds, and other personal listening devices and speakers are prohibited during the school day. Exceptions to this may include teacher-directed classroom activities. Disciplinary consequences will be issued for repeated use.
Cameras
Students are not allowed to take pictures of anyone on school grounds without receiving that person’s permission. Students who take inappropriate photos of others will be subject to disciplinary action.
Confiscation Policy
If the devices are used for anything other than educational purposes or without teacher permission, the device may be taken away, and returned the next day.
When the parent/guardian picks up the confiscated item, he/she will be required to sign the General Confiscation Form acknowledging that:
If the same or similar item is confiscated the second time, it will be kept for a week.
If confiscate the 3rd time, it will be kept until the end of the quarter
