Summer Classes
MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER CLASSES 2024
Ekamai International School offers summer school courses for Middle Schoolers who are interested in mastering core subjects like English or Math or learning STEM. These are also offered for students who did not meet the Math and Language Arts requirements.
English and Math Enrichment courses give students a chance to review and master foundational skills and catch up with his or her peers.
Refresher Algebra covers the key topics of pre-algebra essentials, which include the concept and applications of ratios, proportions, and percentages. Students begin exploring algebraic concepts, including linear and absolute value equations. Special attention is given to working with word problems often under-represented in traditional school curricula and modeling with equations.
Robotics allows students to explore engineering, advanced mathematics, and artistic creativity.
Writing Workshop allows young writers to explore a variety of genres and topics. (This course is yet to be confirmed)
NEW STUDENTS: New students are required to take English and Math Enrichment as part of the requirement.
SUMMER 2024 enrolment starts in May 2024.
RECOMMENDED / REQUIRED COURSES
English Enrichment
This course is offered to incoming Grade 6,7, and 8 students who did not meet the English subject requirements. Students who are not required to take the course may also enroll to brush up on core skills in preparation for the next grade level or to review content from the previous school year.
Enrichment English 6 (1.5 hours learning period + 1 hour Reading Assistant)
Enrichment English 7 (1.5 hours learning period + 1 hour Reading Assistant)
Enrichment English 8 (1.5 hours learning period + 1 hour Reading Assistant)
Course Duration: There are 4 weeks (1 month) of learning. Each week is equivalent to 1 quarter.
Math Enrichment
This course aims to reinforce skills learned in the past year. It is offered to incoming Grade 6,7, and 8 students who did not meet the Math subject requirements. Students who are not required to take the course may also enroll to brush up on core skills in preparation for the next grade level or to review content from the previous school year.
Enrichment Math 6 (1.5 hours learning period)

Enrichment Math 8 (1.5 hours learning period)
Course Duration: There are 4 weeks (1 month) of learning. Each week is equivalent to 1 quarter.

NOTE: Any student who successfully completes Algebra 1 and would like to have a good basic foundation in Geometry is strongly encouraged to take the optional non-credit.
Remedial Algebra
These courses are offered to incoming Grade 7 and 8 students who did not meet the Math course requirements.
Remedial Algebra 8 ( 4 hours)
Course Duration: There are 4 weeks (1 month) of learning. Each week is equivalent to 1 quarter.
SPECIAL COURSES
Robotics
Robotics is a course that was first offered to EIS elementary students and has expanded to middle schoolers. This summer course can potentially impact the concept of engineering at all levels. Robotics offers a way for kids to become technologically fluent, and it also helps them learn mathematics and scientific principles through the inquiry-based learning style.

Summer School Attendance
Students who enroll in summer classes are expected to attend classes on time and regularly.
A student is only allowed to be absent for a total of one (1) day (excused or unexcused). Three tardies equal one absence. The student must take responsibility for asking the teacher for makeup work/test on the first day back in school and send in the completed work the following day. Any work turned in beyond the given date will receive no credit. A student who misses more than one day will receive no credit unless Administration permission has been given ahead of time.
Summer School Uniform and Grooming Policy
All students taking summer school are expected to be in their proper uniforms.
Read the guidelines below for your reference.
Students with an incomplete uniform will not be allowed to enter the class and sit in the examination.
Slippers, sandals, boots, crocs, and platform shoes (any type of open shoes) are not recommended and should not be worn.
Hats, hoods, scarves, and sweatbands or bandannas should not be worn during school days.
Jewelry (rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, tongue rings, nose rings) is prohibited for boys and girls.
Nail polish should not be applied, and nails should be trimmed.
Strictly no tattoos.
Face paint and excessive make-up is not allowed. Cosmetics used should present a natural appearance.
Hairstyle should give a clean, neat, and well-groomed appearance.
Fashionable hairstyle and hair dying (unnatural hues, eg. pink, blue, red, purple, green, etc) is not allowed on campus.
New students who have joined the school for the first time with unnatural colored hues are given a free pass but are expected to change the hair color once the regular school starts.
Jackets and hoodies should be free of inappropriate logos, slogans, phrases and pictures.
Students will be sent home from the gate if they are not wearing a proper uniform.
