EKAMAI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL LIBRARY
Our school library provides opportunities for students to expand their academic inquiries, read recreationally, and explore their interests. There are two libraries that provide services on our campus: The Elementary Library ,which is located on the 3rd floor of Building 9, and the Middle and High School Library is on the ground floor of Building 6.
Both libraries have resources that support the school curriculum and the Expected School Learning Outcomes (ESLO). Library resources include fiction and non-fiction books, references, periodicals (magazines, newspapers), multimedia resources (DVDs, VCDs, CDs), and online databases.
Library Operating Hours
Monday to Thursday 7:20 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Friday 7:20 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Students should obtain permission from their teachers or seek a library pass to visit the library during class hours.
LIBRARY LOANS
1.Loans
All members of the school community are entitled to borrow books from the Library. A record is maintained for every library user on the
Library Management System used by the school. Students are responsible for their borrowed materials and must report any damage
or loss to the librarian promptly. Replacement fees may apply for lost or damaged items.
Students from Grades 2 – 12 have to show their student ID cards for checking out library items.
Pre-Kindergarten to G.1 students may borrow library items accompanied by teachers.
DVDs can be borrowed for 3 days only.
Test preparation books (SAT, AP, TOEFL, TOEIC) borrowing period 1 week.
The latest issue of magazines can be checked out only on Fridays and returned on Mondays.
2. Overdue, Lost, and Damaged Items
Students are responsible for returning borrowed items. The charge for overdue items is 2 baht per day (per item) for Grades 2-5 and 5 baht per day (per item) for Grades 6-12. Students who lose or damage items, including writing and highlighting on the book, will be charged the item's replacement cost plus a processing fee of 100 baht. Be sure to contact the library staff immediately if the materials on loan are lost.
A three-day grace period is given for returning loan items.
Charges of fines will not include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Students who have lost overdue items or fines will be unable to check out any items until all overdue items are returned, and fines are cleared.
LIBRARY MATERIALS
The library provides a wide range of resources, including books, reference materials, digital media, and other educational materials.
Students are responsible for treating library materials with care and returning them by the specified due date. Overdue fines may apply for late returns.
Students are encouraged to make use of the library's online catalog system to search for and reserve books or other resources.
COMPUTER USAGE POLICY
Students must be currently enrolled at EIS.
All computers are for educational purposes only.
E-mails can be used for study purposes.
Chatting, Web Board, and Social Network applications are not allowed. (e.g., Facebook, YouTube)
Utmost care of computer equipment is expected.
LIBRARY ETIQUETTE AND BEHAVIOR
Students are expected to maintain an atmosphere of respect, quietness, and focus within the library.
Food and drinks are generally not permitted in the library unless specified otherwise.
Phones and electronic devices should be used responsibly and in compliance with the school's policies. Mobile phones must be on silent mode upon entering the library, and all calls must be taken outside the library.
Students must present a hall pass slip to use the library during class.
Students who misbehave or disturb library users will be asked to leave.
Book Character Day 2023
The Learning Resources Department headed by Ms. Phornphen Trakoonlakkana organized a captivating Book Character Day on November 22, 2023, bringing together elementary and middle school students for a literary extravaganza. Students immersed themselves in vibrant costumes, embodying their favorite characters. Infused with educational activities, the event seamlessly blended fun and learning with prizes given to everyone who won the game. The Unity Award stirred excitement among the middle schooler, recognizing the homeroom with the highest number of students donning literary attire. The homeroom of Mrs. Marijo Escueta, Grade 8D class emerged victorious, showcasing remarkable unity and enthusiasm. The award comes with a special prize which was a "No Uniform Day" on Friday (December 1)
Adding to the joy of the participants, everyone enjoyed a sweet treat on November 28, 2023.
