Overview
Why: Working with several school districts and organizations for the last year trying to process the implications of AI I have come to realize that there needs to a multi step approach to processing AI and how to properly go about wrapping our minds and actions around how to move forward with AI in the education space.
This session is aimed at the first of four progressions which is mindset. How do we begin to establish our mindset our AI, learning, and teaching? How can the extended mind theory play a role in helping us shift our mindset?
Before we learn and think about position and policy surrounding AI we need to go into the work with the right mindset.

Overview: In this hands-on workshop, participants will gain an understanding of generative AI and how it can be responsibly leveraged in education to enhance teaching and learning. We will cover the basics of AI chatbots like ChatGPT, explore practical implications and ethical considerations, and discuss strategies for integrating AI meaningfully into the classroom.
Goals:
Gain foundational knowledge of generative AI and how it works
Explore potentials and limitations of AI through hands-on activities
Discuss practical implications and ethical considerations of using AI in education
Objectives: By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Explain the basic principles behind chatbot AI like ChatGPT
Use ChatGPT and evaluate its capabilities through hands-on interaction
Consider key ethical issues and potential biases when using AI
Brainstorm specific ways AI could assist in teaching or school policies

Discuss: What stood out to you?
