For this demo we will use Blockade Labs
In this first step, we will create the foundation of our virtual realm by creating a captivating 360-degree VR landscape. We'll be utilizing the tool provided by Blockade Labs, known for its user-friendly interface and cost-effectiveness, as it's freely available. This platform will allow us to construct our VR world with ease, even with minimal prior experience in virtual reality design.
For this section we will use Adobe Firefly which just received an incredible update on October 10th. There are many excellent image tools, but this tool actually produces incredible photos. And can be used in K-12 space. And if you care, this twitter feed is helpful comparing AI image tools.
In this second step, we will breathe life into our world and create an image of a person. It needs to a human and for best results need to be facing the camera and from shoulders up. You can experiment as you wish, but for sake of trial and error it will be best to use these tips.
Sample Prompt
candid shot of astronaut facing camera from mid chest, photo realistic
Key Tips
Explore Visual Setting Slider (right side bar in Adobe)
Adjust Photo Settings Options(right side bar in Adobe)
For this section we will use our standard tools of our choice(ChatGPT, Bard, Bing, Perplexity, Claude) and generate a short phrase, poem, speech, joke, etc. you would like your character to say.
In this third step, we will bring our character to life in our VR world when we come across them in the environment. Have some fun with this step and/or think about educational applications for creating this step.
Sample Prompt:
Act as a professional comedian and help an astronaut deliver a 30 second speech of an delivering dad jokes about space.
In this fourth step, we will layer a sense of realism and relatability to our VR world. We will leverage PlayHT's cutting-edge AI Voice Generator to craft an ultra-realistic Text to Speech (TTS) audio file. PlayHT’s technology is adept at transforming text into natural, human-like voice performances across a myriad of languages and accents, making it a potent tool for our endeavor. The reason we are using this step is to bypass the free account limitations of our next tool.
Remember, your free account will provide you with the following so again edit wisely.
12,500 characters
1 Instant voice clone
Access to all voices and languages.
D-ID each credit is 15 seconds of video so plan accordingly. When you create your free account you will be given 20 credits before you run out of the free credits so this is not a step to remix many times. Ensure you have your audio the way you want and keep it under 30 seconds.
In this third step, we will bring our character to life in our VR world when we come across them in the environment. Have some fun with this step and/or think about educational applications for creating this step.
thinglink is a tool I used forever ago and forgot. Lo and behold I now love it and boy have they really updated and have a solid platform. ThingLink is a visual learning solution for classroom and remote learning. You can use it to bring images, video and 360 degree virtual tours to life with further information, voice and text notes, as well as other resources from the web.
In this final step, we will bring it all together. Remember this is just the start to your VR AI world. You can embed as much as you would like. Craft stories, interactions, move to new rooms and spaces. Thinglink has this great tutorial of all things here in case you want to learn more.

Creating My First Immersive Learning Adventure 🌍
After an exciting conversation with Louise Jones from ThingLink (I've never smiled so much during a product demo!), I went to work creating my first immersive learning experience using the new ThingLink and Blockade Labs collaboration.
ChatGPT randomly selected the subject, year group, and learning objectives, and I ended up building an experience to teach Year 9 students about the Industrial Revolution.
The entire adventure was generated using ChatGPT, including suggestions for immersive content. I did a few rounds of prompting to incorporate more tools like Padlets, Microsoft Forms, and Zapier Chatbot.
Please don't judge the educational content too harshly, as I'm not a History specialist, but I hope I was in the ballpark. I may have also 'over egged the pudding' with everything I added, but I wanted to experiment with the different features!
This was a really enjoyable exercise, and I learned a lot that I'll apply next time I make an experience and show others how to create them.
The think the real gold with ThingLink would be having students create their own immersive experiences to demonstrate understanding!
This was the first paid platform/AI tool I've used and posted about, and I have no sponsorship or affiliation. I simply thought it was a really cool learning tool. It's even compatible with the ClassVR Virtual Reality for the Classroom headsets we already have, so no new tech purchases needed.
