MATTE PAINTING

We decided to go with a matte 'painting' for the background of our full CG shots. These are some preliminary options for the space background. I don't want it to be too overwhelming or distract from the main focus of the the nuts and trail mix, but still visually interesting so that there isn't just an empty cold looking space.

These last two are from NASA's hubble space telescope, the rest coming from my teammate Yilin Zhao.
I'm taking the chosen image into Adobe After Effects so that way the background for the shots will not be a static image, but have twinkling and a few shooting stars as well.
I have not used After Effects before, so this will be a fun challenge.
This first pass is very subtle and almost non existent so I need to find a way to make the twinkling stars more prominent.
This second pass has added stars that twinkle more prominently. Those are not part of the original image, but made using fractal noise.
This is a third 'blank' for the other telescope shots so the main hero CG shot is unique and this one won't seem as repetative than the one with the nebula.
