HOMEBASE | Designed and Created by Duck Sandy
Design - The strengths of this design lie in the fact that it is smaller scope, but focuses on refining the details of the elements. however, the overall environment is small and could still be expanded upon in the future
Scope - Homebase was designed with the 10 week time limit of the course in mind, so it was smaller scale from the beginning in order to accommodate the level of detail I wanted to include. That being said there were elements that I wanted to include that did not get added because of time constraints, so I would've scrapped those ideations in order to focus even more on the elements that were able to make it.
Planning - Overall the majority of the elements that were decided from the beginning were able to make it to the final render, so the planning was fairly effective and realistic.
Execution / Testing - I ran into some difficulties with getting the foliage to look correct and realistic in the beginning stages of the project and that took up more time than I would've like. I also found that a lot of my props were small and wouldn't show up as prominently as the larger assets that repeated less. I tried to fill out the space as much as possible with those smaller props so that way they were still seen and not overlooked
Support - I often looked for my other classmates for feedback, but when they were not available I had to step away from the project in order to see it freshly even when I had been working on it for a very long time.
Communication - I got good feedback from my classmates when I asked for specific advice on my render shots, materials and lighting passes. I also got some feedback from my non-ITGM friends to get their general input which helped me get
Learnings - This project overall was a success. I pushed myself to create something of much higher quality work from myself and I also hope that in that I was able to showcase my talents to my fellow classmates
