Another possible device under developement is described in this paper: "Magnetic soft robotic valve for minimally invasive therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease" pubished in the CellPress, Device, journal, September 2025 stating, "By combining magnetic actuation, flexible materials, and wireless control, the proposed soft robotic valve represents a significant advancement over existing technologies. This platform also lays the groundwork for integrating soft robotic structures into medical implants, enabling early, minimally invasive interventions for gastrointestinal and other organ system disorders."

October 2025's MedicalXPress news, "Magnetic robotic valve offers minimally invasive option for acid reflux treatment" provided more information including a video.
"The design leverages a magnetic ring-shaped lattice structure that ensures a strong and reversible liquid-tight seal through magnetic attraction. The valve can be actuated on demand by applying an external magnetic field, allowing the controlled passage of food using a simple, wearable magnet."
It is not cear whether a user would be required to operate this manually whilst eating.
