As soon as the surf fun on the ocean ended and summer slowly began to end, everyone returned to their old duties. Pets were enjoying the last rays of sunshine with their owners on the beach, Farmstead were helping their farmers with the final summer chores in the fields, and Strays were enjoying the tourists walking around town, throwing large portions of food into the trash.
All the factions returned to their harmonious lives except for one...
The dogs of the Junkyard noticed the extended absence of their leader Doc. At first, it didn't cause much concern - because hey, maybe he was also taking a few days off from his daily duties? But the days were slipping away, inexorably approaching the council meeting, and everyone knew that his absence would cause a scandal…
The dogs of Canidale decided to work together to find their leader, starting with the places he spent the most time:
PROMPTS
PROMPT 1: His burrow at the top of the large junk tower in the Junkyard, where Doc kept all his treasures.
PROMPT 2: His favorite park on the outskirts of town, where he spent quiet days relaxing and digging holes for bones.
PROMPT 3: The tastiest restaurant in town, serving solid, rare steaks that Doc dug out of the dumpsters out back.
Keeping positive thoughts in mind, the dogs of Canidale set out on their search, but each day and each empty spot brought them closer to their real worries and concerns…
The Junkyard canines have searched far and wide for Doc, however unfortunately wherever the missing canine has been, it was far from Canidale. There were no fresh traces indicating his recent presence and they were running out of places to check.
With each passing day they were running out of time and finally as the date of the Canine Council approached they knew that they’d have to face the other factions without the guidance of their leader.
How will the other dogs react to the fact of Doc’s disappearance? Will the Junkyards be able to stand their ground in front of the Council even without their leader? And who was to blame for this troublesome situation? The clues have been gathered - it’s time to assemble them into a whole.
While the Junkyards are still searching for their missing leader, the tension is rising inside the Pet’s faction as well. Their leader didn’t make an appearance at the last Canine Council meeting which alarmed all factions considering the fact that Bane was probably the most responsible dog in the whole Canidale.
Soon enough the rumors have spread of the old K9 house being a subject of burglary, with the injured handler being stationed at hospital and Bane nowhere to be found. Some may have already started speculating as to what might have happened to the fate of their beloved leader, some even blaming the rampageous junkyards to have taken revenge on Doc's disappearance by trashing the place.
Meanwhile life in Canidale goes on. Factions cannot function without a leader for long and even if the Advisors are trying their best to keep everything in order some Junkyards start making their advances towards the position and collecting allies. The spirit of rivalry grows stronger with every new day with certain individuals trying to usurp their way towards the top.
The situation within Pet's faction is way more timid as the loyal canines refuse to give up faith in their brave leader. Awaiting his safe return they decided to split up some of his tasks between themselves to keep Canidale at peace during the police dog's absence.
Farmstead members are concerned about the wellbeing of their leader, Nutella - yet the work devoted canine dismisses all of the speculations, still working at her post around the farm.
As the first strays got involved into the Search for Doc, a few voices have been raised claiming that they should have a say in terms of Canidale's politics as well. Some wonder, is it even possible to unite the most solitary amongst the factions?
PROMPTS
PROMPT 1: Take no prisoners
A burglary has taken place in Canidale. A pretty nasty one. According to the rumors spreading rapidly, the whole place got trashed. And to make matters worse, the assaulted accommodation belongs to no one else than an actual police officer and a handler to famous K-9 Bane!
Struck with worry for your leader's wellbeing you decide to check out yourself the scale of destruction. Perhaps you may even find some clues as to where the canine may have been taken?
PROMPT 2: While the cat's away, the mice will play
With or without officer Bane in charge, the crime in Canidale never rests. Someone needs to quickly take over his post before some of the more mischievous individuals notice. There's a table listing out all Bane's patrol locations for the upcoming week that can be seen through a window of the police station if you stand at the right angle.
What will you do with this knowledge? And even then, how would you get the unruly to behave like Bane did just with his intimidating presence?
PROMPT 3: On the run
Rumors say Bane has been investigating a case of missing dogs a few days prior to his disappearance. Perhaps you could get some clues on where to start your search if only you had access to the case acts. Breaking into a police station and turning aways the attention of all those police officers sounds like a mad idea now, doesn’t it? ;)
ADDITIONAL PROMPT:
Strolling through Junkyard you can hear whispers of concerned dogs wondering what is going to happen if their leader doesn't return at all. In order to operate smoothly Junkyard needs someone who will guide its members and resolve conflicts within the faction. It could be anyone, but it could just as well be you. At times like those it may be useful to start collecting allies…
The dogs did their best to try to solve the mystery of Bane's disappearance. Wriothlesey and Gilly went to the missing officer's house to find some clues, and Corvo, Kalli, and Sparrow came up with the same idea. It was clear to everyone that the house bore the marks of a break-in as well as an apparent struggle. Nevertheless, they were unable to locate where Bane was now. Even searches in the police station by Dad and Kalli provided no direct clues to his whereabouts.
Their disappearance was felt by the entire city of Canidale - crime was slowly increasing and many were beginning to feel overconfident without the presence of an officer nearby. The entire dog community became motivated to take over the duties of the missing police dog, and great courage was especially displayed by Sage in the fight against the raccoon, Corvo and Fuss on joint patrol, and Kalli who saved Lilac's collar from theft.
Shortly afterward, a Canine Council was held, attended by all the dogs that managed to investigate the places where Doc and Bane went missing. Witnesses were interviewed by the Council dogs and a lively discussion began about the leaders' recent disappearances.
Days passed and everyone at Pets realized that the case of Bane's disappearance might take longer than they thought. Then, as if on cue, a new dog appeared in town that could remedy their problem, or at least in part. Gale arrived with his police officer owner to help find Bane. He claims to be the nephew of the missing police dog and vows to bring him home to you, and in the process take care of his duties so that order can once again prevail in Canidale. He has inspired great confidence in you, and out of pity for the former officer, some believe that Gale should be the one to temporarily take his place.
Finally, another tragedy occurred. Farmstead dogs noticed Nutella's absence, and their fears about her disappearance became real. Posters appeared on poles in the city with the familiar muzzle of your leader and the chilling words ''MISSING! IF YOU HAVE SEEN, CALL IMMEDIATELY''.
It was absurd, all your leaders melted into thin air and no one could say why. Panic nestled in the hearts of each of you raising questions in your mind ''Who will be next?''. The Farmstead dogs were not going to wait and immediately set about searching for the missing leader. Their first idea was to explore her farm... what they saw shocked the whole of Canidale.
PROMPTS
PROMPT 1: E.T. phone home
Very strange evidence was found next to the Farmstead leader's house. In the field right next to her owner's house, one can see very unusual marks, the formation of which is difficult to explain. Circles of different sizes are made in a rather precise manner. The dogs began to wonder if the disappearance could be due to the essence of things...supernatural?
Explore the field and the strange traces trying to take a closer look. Attention, this is a task only for extremely brave dogs!
PROMPT 2: Home on the Range
While others are busy searching for Nutella or solving the wheel puzzles in the field, someone has to take on Nutella's responsibilities while she is away to assist the farm owner. People watch in amazement as the Farmstead dogs take turns guarding her home and herding her owner's sheep, ensuring that everything is in order. After all, they are the ones most familiar with working together.
PROMPT 3: Aurora problemalis
Rumor has it that the night Nutella disappeared some people saw strange lights over the hill near her home. The dogs began to wonder if it was a coincidence or a clue they needed to check. A few daredevils went to the spot finding numerous prints on the ground at the site of the alleged ''wandering lights.'' None of them, however, smelled familiar; these were strangers.
ADDITIONAL PROMPT: Ratatouille Spin-off
As the summer heats get stronger, the Junkyard has to face a new problem. Without a leader to manage them, some Bug-Busters have become quite lousy and the canines are in danger of facing a rat infestation any given day. To prevent it, Junkyard needs someone to step up and take over the manager role in times of crisis. Will you be that canine? What are your moves going to be? There are many factors to consider: food resources to secure, holding back the rats, and protecting the sick area.
Will the Junkyardians accept your authority and listen to your orders?
ADDITIONAL PROMPT: There's a new sheriff in town
A new officer along with his K9 unit has arrived in Canidale to aid the local police station in the investigation. Rumors are spreading in a flash, some more ridiculous than the rest. An undercover FBI agent, a superhero in disguise, dashing looks, charming personality, and apparently… connections to the missing officer Bane himself! The word spreads quickly, enlightening hope in the hearts of Pets. Surely, no one will put as much effort into finding their leader! With all the stories surrounding Gale, he has the potential of not only becoming a savior of Canidale but also someone special to the Pet’s faction…
Will you approach him and try to find out for yourself?
SUMMARY
Concerned by the notion of the missing dogs, the canines of Canidale have gathered in the Great Oak Park Amphitheatre to discuss the situation in the meeting of the Canine Council. Led by Farmstead leader Nutella with the help of faction advisors Mango, Wilhelm, and Draco, it focused on gathering clues on what might have happened to Doc and Bane through listening to various testimonies. Places on the stage had successively been taken by Dad, Sage, Small Fry, V, Kalli, Gilly, Wrio, Sparrow, Corvo, Romans, and Honeybun.
For the most part, the meeting has gone undisturbed, except for the appearance of the Stray, V, who has managed to cause quite the commotion with her frank words regarding the faction’s approach to homeless canines. Her speech prompted the councillors to hold an impromptu vote, upon which the discussion about the case of strays has been postponed until the next meeting.
Once all of the witnesses had spoken, the councillors had a chance to propose their suggestions on what actions should be taken next, and out of those, the majority chose the options to follow the cryptic maps scratched into the floor of Bane’s house.
Soon after the meeting, news of Nutella’s disappearance spread out and the Farmstead faction became frantic. After the recent course of events, it was a fear lingering in their minds, and eventually it turned out to be inevitable. With the border collie mix gone, there were no remaining leaders left in Canidale, which meant that the factions had to start working on their own. It was crucial to balance their efforts between the investigation and keeping everything up in order.
Reja, Autumn, Iroh, Sage, and Stardust, with the help of Pet Corvo and Junkyard Dad, and Small Fry, have taken it upon themselves to examine the mysterious crop circles appearing through the night on various fields across Canidale. Their exploration of the grassy labyrinths has led them to a series of strange-looking metal structures that require closer examination to uncover their true purpose.
In the meantime, Marlo, Iroh, and Sage, with the help of Pet Ranbir, have taken turns helping with the work on Nutella’s farm. They had to face off not only rascal animals, emboldened by the lack of their guardian’s presence, but also mischievous Junkyards looking for an easy snack. At last, the property seemed safe and undisturbed… for now.
Finally, Reja, Iroh, Stardust, Wriothesley, Daisy, and Olive, with the help of Stray V, Pet Molly, and Pet Kalli have taken it upon themselves to determine the source of the strange lights behind the hills. They walked on and on, until the night turned into a day and the glow was no longer visible, and realised that despite the distance covered, they didn’t seem to be any closer. Whatever it was, it must have been really, really far away.
While Farmstead dogs have been taking care of their own business, Junkyard canines have successfully managed to fend off the pests. The derating action was named a great success, mainly thanks to Dad, Kestrel, and Harley’s effort with the extra help of a Stray Soleil and Farmstead Daisy. Their assistance will no doubt be remembered long by the canines of the scrapyard. It was gradually coming into the picture that the Junkyards had started looking up for guidance from a certain dog during their leader’s absence. Ever present for the community, Dad has clearly taken it upon himself to keep the place in order until Doc is back. Unfortunately, the rat infestation has caused a great deal of damage to the scrapyard hideout, which will no doubt take some time to rebuild.
While the other factions have struggled greatly, the life of pets seemed to go on pretty undisturbed. After their brave and quick actions in civil service, the risk of crime getting out of control was no more, and now they apparently had a new police officer to keep everything in order. Eager to greet the new resident, the canines have sought out the Malinois and asked him a few questions. This appeared to not only reveal information about the apparent connections between the hound and missing leader Bane, but also Gale’s clear interest in the vacant spot he has left behind. However, in order to reach his goal, he will have to work hard to earn the respect and trust of the Pets.
Was it a good first impression? Garlic, Ranbir, V, Corvo, Kalli, or Judas might be able to tell you!
Canine Council Meeting
Sparrow's map
Wriothesley's map
V’s appearance during the Canine Council meeting has once again roused the discussion about whether or not strays should be given the same privileges as the three renowned factions of Canidale. Strong words may have been said, but they won’t be enough to make a change, not without proper support. Prompted by their colleague, the strays have been given a chance to act. Yet it is up to them to decide what path should be taken.

Following the path to the mysterious „X” etched into the flood of Bane’s house Wriothesley, Iroh, Rush E, Ranbir, Lucifer and Romans found themselves exploring the seaside of Canidale. The first thing that caught their attention were the fresh tire marks, leading them down the cliffs. At the end of it they have spotted what appeared to by an opening in the face of a rock, giving them an entrance to a cave system. Choosing to dwell inside, they soon found themselves in a maze, surrounded by darkness and damp, seawater-smelling air. The times passed as the dogs traversed the corridors, oblivious to the upcoming high tide. Out of a sudden water started pouring in through the cracks between the rocks, rapidly filling the cave and trapping the canines inside. Either too oblivious to the change around them or simply frozen in fear at the thought of what was to come, they failed to act on time, letting their bodies become entirely engulfed by water. Only then when they gravity of the situation truly reached them, they started frantically looking for a way out. In the end it was a faint trace of smell and the power of incoming tide that brought them to the exit, spewing the dogs along with a spray of water onto a beach.
The place they ended up in turned out to be a secluded bay, closed off from the land and accessible only by water, shielded by the cliffs from the sight of the city. At the far end of it stood an inconspicuous structure, a complex made of single-storey box-like containers. From where they stood, the canines could see silhouettes moving inside and hear a pained howl break through the silence. Alarmed by the sound, Rush E chose to dart towards the unnerving hideout, triggering an alarm and being captured by the guards scouting the premises.

Guided by the cryptic instructions clawed into the floor of Bane’s house, Maybell, Sage, Leif, V, Bernadette and Olive set out on their investigation into the forest. They began by reaching the spot marked on the map, which proved to be utterly inconspicuous. Fishing for ideas, Bernadette decided to dig down, uncovering the remains of an old garden gnome. V has associated the peculiar collectible with an old man who used to live in a hut deep in the woods. Taking it as a clue, they decided to investigate the house. Around the building they found a series of objects and marks looking strangely out of place and fresh: car tracks leading away from the house, a residue of chemical smell in the air, shards of broken glass with a measuring scale and the doorframe covered in a series of scratch marks.
In comparison, the inside turned out to be unnaturally empty, every household object removed, save for a single red light, ominously blinking in the corner. Despite their concerns, Leif, V and Sage entered the hut in search of more evidence, triggering a hidden mechanism trapping them in a hidden cage. As they were trying to find a way out, a threat of what’s to come looming over their heads - an unexpected savior came to their rescue. With the assistance of Gale the canines managed to break out, the officer ushering them to hurry. As they fled back into the forest, they could hear a distant roar of an engine approaching.
PROMPTS
STRAY PROMPTS
PROMPT 1: Grassroots Activist
A notion has reached your ears that the faction dogs despise strays for their lack of activity for the community and think of them as parasites on the town of Canidale. Perhaps you could change their minds by proving that you actually care for the well-being of the citizens? Perform a bottom-up action with a positive outcome. The rat invasion has been tough on Junkyard, and Farmstead canines have to work twice as hard with their leader gone. Go ask around, and maybe if you help enough, dogs will start recognizing who you really are.
PROMPT 2: Fierce Rebel
How dare the comfort-loving faction canines accuse you of being idle when every day of your life has been a fierce fight for survival? You will not allow anyone to refer to you in such a manner. Show them how fierce the strays can be and demand the respect strays deserve. Act up and make appearances in different places, play tricks, and disturb the lazy faction dogs. Remind them that they should think twice before using such words against you again.
PROMPT 3: Once a Stray, always a Stray
You watch with concern the actions taken by other strays to make themselves more recognizable. It is an idea you oppose, preferring the closure and lack of responsibilities or attachments. Perhaps you simply wish to lay low and not engage in the conflict, or want to advocate for keeping true to what is the essence of being a stray. Continue your solitary life, ignore what is not your business, or prevent other strays’ attempts to impose themselves on faction dogs.
PET PROMPT: The darkest place is under the candle
Whether you have taken a liking to or not to the newcomer police officer, Gale, you wish to know more about him and his investigation of the missing canines’ disappearances. Try sneaking around to see how the Malinois acts when he thinks nobody is looking. The rumors say he and his partner have been assigned a house on the outskirts of the town, perhaps taking a closer look inside might reveal some answers.
FARMSTEAD PROMPT: Despicable me
Following the strange grass formations in the fields, you have found a peculiar-looking structure. It appears to be made of metal, with long antennae protruding from the top. Perhaps a closer investigation might reveal some answers as to what that thing may be and who it may belong to.
JUNKYARD PROMPT: Precautions must be taken
At night, when all the dogs had been sleeping safely hidden inside their dens, an ominous white van pulled up to the Junkyard. The canines who had seen it reported that it had no lights on and drove very slowly and thus most of the dogs were able to sleep right through its arrival. A few men dressed in black quickly unloaded some cargo from the back of the van and drove away, vanishing into the darkness. When the day arrived, dogs were greeted by a sight of mysterious crates standing between piles of trash.
SUMMARY
Last time during Main Story Chapter IV…
Many of the strays have taken the last meeting to heart, and have decided to show the factions they are more than just petty criminals and filthy dogs, so they decide to show their strengths and skills towards the factions that they can be a part of Canidale's politics.
Some of them have decided to use their charisma and charm to help the factions. Maybelline has managed to pull in a large crowd of dogs from all factions to speak out for the strays, while also trying to cheer up Stardust and being a fun playmate for the young pup Toast and providing company for Sage, even getting herself into some trouble with the pet, Maxine, though they won’t soon forget their fun experience together.
Other Strays used their compassion to help others to aid in the factions. Amberine stepped up to aid the Junkyard Medic Wormwood, an act that won’t soon be forgotten by the Junkyard while the hot summers have been killing precious herbs and plants. V would also catch some dogs by surprise when she was seen helping Autumn remove pesky weeds from a field of flowers to ensure they thrived for weeks to come.
They have always lived their lives hard, and thus their strength and cunning is seen as a danger, but it can also be seen as a valuable asset. Deputy is no stranger to protecting the weak and aided Harley in chasing out pesky rats as well as spending time in the farmstead. From aiding Iroh, Amore, Big Fella and Pal with some cattle round up. His sense of duty stretched out to defending Farmstead land alongside Ruckus, Big Fella , Iroh, Harley, and Amore against vicious coyotes that once were a major threat to the Farmstead after the leaders disappeared. Meanwhile Vulcan has spent some time in the Junkyard, aiding in its rat extermination by killing a large amount of rats, ensuring a decrease in disease and rat related injuries towards the Junkyard. V would help with the Junkyard’s food resupply by aiding Gallant in stealing from the butcher and even saved Canine Officer Kalli getting stuck in the garbage dumpster.
While many strays were trying to aid the faction dogs to better strengthen the bonds, others decided to… bend the rules a little and cause chaos throughout the town of Canidale.
It all began when Chili Nose trespassed and chased hens on Marlo’s property, earning herself a few scars as a direct result. However, that didn’t deter her! As the leading rebel, this teenager also messed with Pal’s medical supplies at the Junkyard, chased Valentine with a knife, launched a very vicious attack on Big Fella, sprayed Lucky with water, dumped bugs and spiders on officer Kalli with Small Fry, and stole a water bowl from another officer, Lucifer.
Chili Nose wasn’t the only Stray to wreak havoc. Her guardian and caretaker, V, made off with a tender cut of meat, stole picnic supplies from Lucky, killed off a lost sheep with the help from another Stray named Vulcan, trained Chili Nose in the art of theft, and meddled with Corvo’s stage set. Of course, it doesn’t stop there! Sena succeeded in a bountiful harvest after stealing from a poor Pet. It is clear that these guys aren’t messing around when it comes to proving themselves to the privileged faction dogs.
An extreme heatwave has reached Canidale. It came as a surprise to everyone because the summers in the Oregon region tended to be pleasantly warm at most. And yet, here they are, battling the temperatures rising as high as 42°C (107°F). For dogs who cannot check the thermometer readings that translates to awfully hot.
Unfold tabs to learn how different factions deal with the heatwaves.
The luckiest ones are the pets. Living with their owners in air-conditioned homes, with bowls regularly refilled with cold water. Some may even have the luxury of a backyard with shade, private pool or even peanut butter popsicles! They go out on less walks, mainly in the evenings or late night, but that’s hardly a big deal. Would they be willing to share their luxuries with the less fortunate?
The farmstead canines’s work has been brought down to minimum to limit their direct sun exposure, but unfortunately they cannot lounge on the couches all day long. They go out to work for a brief period of time, around dawn and evening and then return to the shade of the barn where there’s always plenty of water waiting for them. If they want to cool themselves off, the best they can hope for is a refreshing mudbath in the pigs’ pen.
Unfortunately, a new threat has appeared on the horizon, putting more weight on the farm dogs’ shoulders. While their owners always ensure to feed them well, there are other animals suffering from unsuccessful hunts. Forced to seek out easier food, the wolves and coyotes are coming out from The Feral Woods to snack on the farmers’ livestock. The latter being bold enough to approach even during the day, when the guard dogs are resting.
It’s slightly tougher for the Junkyard canines. The heat is relentless amongst the metal heaps of the scrap yard and the stench of rotting trash is stronger than ever. But the community of Canidale didn’t forget about the pooches living on the outskirts of town. Every morning a car comes by, bringing food and fresh water so that the dogs don’t have to leave their shelters to traverse the melting hot streets of the town. Unfortunately, most of these days there’s not enough food and water to sustain everyone so it has to be carefully rationed. The adults are pushing bowls towards the pups, even though their throats have never felt drier before. Some believe they deserve the food and water more because of their position amongst the ranks of the Junkyard. The race for power has never been more ferocious. It is no longer a matter of respect because now comfort and survival is at stake. What’s worse, if they aren’t fast enough to divide the supplies - there are outsiders just waiting to snack on whatever has been left by the Junkyard gate.
The Strays were absolutely ravaged by the heatwaves. The asphalt and concrete streets are too hot to walk on, shaded shelter even harder to find and food particularly nonexistent. Any scraps left out spoil within minutes and all water sources inside the town have long since evaporated. The Junkayard are even less willing to share their scavenging territory than ever and stray dogs are not the only animals rummaging through trash cans. The herbs are withered and medics are struggling to find healing supplies. Many dogs are at risk of overheating or heatstroke.
You think back on your past actions. Were you kind to the faction dogs? If you approach them seeking help, perhaps they will feel obligated to pay back in kindness. Or were you a true menace and now will you suffer the heat with dignity, fighting for anything that is necessary?
Unfold for meeting summary
As a result of a stray V’s speech, a new council meeting has been called. That night, the councillors discussed the matter of lone dogs living in Canidale - and for the first time gave them a chance to speak for themselves on the stage. Throughout the meeting the emotions were high - there have been promises, pleas and threats uttered from the mouths of Grassroots Activists and Fierce Rebels. Some of the strays wished for the matters to remain as they were. In the end, the majority of councillors voted in favour of letting strays join the council, albeit with regulations, in favour of neutral ground and in favour of organising hunting lessons for strays.
Stray Representatives Summary
Trader offers his services in helping faction dogs recover their lost belongings in exchange for them helping him in tough times.
Maybelline proposes the creation of neutral ground, a place where dogs can drop off what is spare to them and take what they need in exchange. She implies that the freedom granted by stray lifestyle allows them access to goods even faction dogs would find desirable.
When cornered by the Junkyard advisor Draco, asking about what strays would do if the dogs don’t have anything to bring to the neutral ground - she assures him that the strays won’t threaten the faction dogs into keeping it well supplied. They will be grateful for even the bare minimum that is brought, and Maybell volunteers herself to personally look to that as the overseer of the neutral ground.
Deputy offers up his own old house as a neutral ground. He also suggests that if the faction dogs don’t want to give up their resources for free, strays have many talents of their own, be it in healing or scouting, they can lend in exchange for a fair pay.
Vulcan reminds the faction dogs that there is a thin line between them and the strays which revolves about being wanted and having a home, all of which can be one day gone. Following her speech, the Farmstead advisor Wilhelm mentions an incident in which Vulcan was seen killing livestock. In exchange Vulcan accuses him of keeping this sighting secret for so long, which the guardian justifies with his colleague’s plea for giving the stray a fair chance to be heard out during the council.
Ruth also supports Maybell’s suggestion of creating a neutral ground, adding that it could also be a place where all dogs could receive medical assistance.
Ranbir of Pets supports the idea of creating neutral ground. He speaks of the concerns pets have about this idea, well aware that they will be the ones expected to bring most to the share. He explains that with the strays already taking by force, the neutral ground - even if not the ideal solution, will lower the frequency of such incidents taking place. The shepherd believes establishing a representative to look over the neutral ground, along with strays exchanging labour for goods can dissipate some of the worries.
Ruckus of Farmstead also supports the idea of neutral ground, highlighting the aspect of it being a place where dogs can seek medical attention.
Dad of Junkyard withholds his opinion on the creation on the neutral ground. He believes that there is still a long way ahead of them to make the idea work, which includes testing it out in practice and implementing necessary regulations. He finishes his speech by defending the honour of Junkyard against the claims previously made, explaining it's not just a place, but foremost the canines that create it.
The first representative for the rebels comes in the form of not just one but four young canines. Together they bring their demands to the council, threatening to attack the people and their livestock if the current advisors aren’t removed from their posts. Chilli says that the only way to avoid violence is for the dogs to actively join their rebellion. The other teens, Small Fry, Toast and Hayley while seemingly disturbed by the notion of killing, support the stray in her claims.
Their threat-laced speech is not well received by the council and Chilli Nose is ordered to leave on the notion of breaking council rules. In order to ensure the stray teen doesn’t actually go through with her words, the advisors assign two police dogs - Lucifer and Jiba to keep watch over the canine.
The one whose speech everybody has been waiting for, as it was V who first drew attention to the discrimination of homeless canines in Canidale. She comes to the meeting with her own story to tell, an occurrence of Farmstead dog mauling a stray pup, apparently covered up as not to reach the public notion. She threatens that if the faction dogs don’t want to see the strays rebel, they should give them a voice. V supports removing the current advisors from their posts and demands for the stays to be given their own seats amongst the council.
Sena believes that the strays should get their place on the council, arguing that if the factions want them to obey the laws they set - the strays should have their voice in how those rules are formulated.
Molly of Pets supports the notion of letting the strays onto the canine council. She highlights the necessity of good communication, which would not only make them understand the needs of the homeless dogs better - but also for the strays to understand the concerns and hardships of Pets.
Romans of Farmstead speaks against changing the current order. She implies that Farmstead dogs wish to perform their jobs undisturbed and don't want to be bothered catering to other dog's needs, especially as unpredictable as the strays.
Leif of Junkyard stands in favor of giving strays a place on the council, explaining that it will allow the disputes to be mediated before they can develop into further actions. She believes an open channel of communication will be the source of future stability.
Rummager, content about the course of his life, wishes for the things to remain as they are. He embraces the stray’s ability to stand beside the law, and views getting engaged in the council matters only as a way to get tied down by the rules. The canine also gives the factions a warning, reminding them of the unpredictability of stray dogs and advising to banish V out of Canidale for her illicit actions.
The council ends with a controversial opinion spoken by a former Farmstead dog, Lilac, who claims factions are a wrong concept in general, forcing dogs into stereotypical roles. Just like Rummager, she didn’t take kindly to V, describing a past incident when the stray broke into her house when Lilac was still living on a farm. She also brings to light the bullying she suffered in the past from her colleague, Iroh.
Council Jury Summary
Pet councillors present: Corvo, Kalli, Judas, Lucifer, Ranbir, Molly
The atmosphere appears to be most cheerful amongst Pets, who just like their advisor Mango hope for a positive outcome of the meeting. Out of all factions they appear to be most approving of the creation of the neutral ground. Being the ones forming closest bonds with their people, they don't take lightly to Chilli’s threats. Despite that, supportive of strays gaining a voice in the council.
Out of all factions, they speak the least during the council, with Ranbir getting most engaged in the conversations.
In the end, the majority of Pet councillors vote in favour of letting strays join the council, albeit with regulations, in favour of neutral ground and against organising hunting lessons.
Farmstead councillors present: Iroh, Olive, Big Fella, Rory, Reja, Sage, Wriothesley
The Farmstead canines approach the subject with a dose of warrines. They too hope for a good ending, however they are less motivated by the compassion towards the strays but rather by the additional strain their unpredictable recent actions have taken on their jobs. To them reaching an agreement hopefully means putting an end to the homeless dogs attacks on their farms.
However it seems they have their own disputes to solve, as besides Olive, Iroh and Reja, newly appointed councillor Rory makes her presence at the meeting.
Three other present Farmstead members, Big Fella, Sage and Wriothesley, choose to sit amongst their friends from other factions.
With their farms already targeted by the strays, they are most likely to use harsh words and let their emotions show through their replies. While still open to helping the strays, they also appear to be the most fiercely protective ones over their homes.
Through the meeting many unresolved disputes regarding the Farmstead faction arise, including hiding the truth about loner attacks on their livestock and covering up for one of their dogs attacking a pup. The most active voice amongst the Junkyarders turns out to be Olive, while Rory appears to be the loudest.
In the end, the majority of Farmstead councillors vote in favour of letting strays join the council, albeit with regulations, in favour of neutral ground and in favour of organising hunting lessons.
Junkyard councillors present: Dad, Gallant, Wormwood, Pal, Leif, Adal
The atmosphere amongst Junkyard dogs appears to be most nervous from all factions. They are aware of how little sets them apart from the lone dogs of the streets, but at the same time it’s that unity they take great pride in. Even now, with various candidates arising for the leading position, they manage to find a common voice.
They worry about strays asking too much of them, but at the same time see in the creation of the neutral ground an opportunity to improve their own lives. Many of them, even if they share his opinion - are openly criticising the actions of their advisor - Draco. They also disapprove of their youth joining Chilli on stage.
With Pal leaving mid-meeting, the most active voice amongst the Junkyarders turns out to be Wormwood.
In the end, the majority of Junkyard councillors vote in favour of letting strays join the council, albeit with regulations, in favour of neutral ground and in favour of organising hunting lessons.
Spectator Zone Summary
Canines present in the spectator zone: Chilli Nose, Ruth, Maybelline, Keski, Beaumont, V, Hayley, Small Fry, Canela, Toast, Rush E, Ruckus, Valentine, Derby, Sena, Marlo, Hosea, Tavrah
The spectator zone is the place where strays are waiting to be called out onto the stage. The atmosphere here is especially nervous as everyone is getting ready for their big moment. For some it's an opportunity for first meetings and getting to better know each other.
Canine spectators are in majority supportive of the strays, many of them coming to cheer on their friends fighting for the big cause. Despite that the strays are lacking a unified front, as there appears to be a disagreement between the Grassroots Activists and Fierce Rebels on how the matters should be handled. Still, they all appear equally outraged by the Junkyard advisor holding up Maybelline for further questioning.
Meanwhile, encouraged by the stray pup - Chilli Nose, teens across the factions eagerly agree to join her on stage during her speech. In consequence, their threats are openly criticised, even by other, mature lone dogs. The teens return with conflicted feelings and while they believe the advisors to be the first obstacle that has to be removed before strays are granted their laws, the scale of the violence has clearly exceeded their expectations.
Throughout the meetings, the dogs gathered in the spectator zone could notice a certain anxiety around the Farmstead guardian Marlo, who left the gathering in haste after Stray V’s speech.
In the end strays leave the meeting with a breath of relief, even though it hasn’t gone exactly as they wished. The most active voice amongst the Strays turns out to be fierce Chili Nose, with the grounding and substantive speeches of wolfdog Ruth coming as close second.
PROMPTS
Did your character come in contact with any strays during Chapter IV? Now is the best time for them to react based on those experiences! Are they holding a grudge against a particularly disruptive stray or have they received some help and feel obliged to help back?
Prompt 1: STRAY SUPPORTER
“Whether or not you have received help from a stray, your kind heart tells you that you can’t leave the homeless canines in need. Perhaps there is something you could spare or offer to aid those who are battling the worst of the heat. Show that you accept them in your town, repay in kindness.”
Prompt 2: THE LONER NEMESIS
"Those arrogant strays! Having the gall to interrupt your hard work! This is your property, your supplies and with the heat, now you and your family need them the most. Wherever they strays be, it should be as far from you as possible. Ward your territory, chase off the strays, show that there is no place for flea covered mutts on the streets of your town.”
Prompt 3: STATUS QUO
"They are just like shadows, lurking around the corner, stepping down from your path. They never interrupted you so you find no harm in them continuing on their business while you do yours. You believe that your faction is in the biggest need of assistance now. Focus your efforts on keeping those closest to you safe. Remain oblivious."
Prompt 4: THE PERFECT CANDIDATE
“Present yourself as a potential candidate to become a future faction leader. Show the dogs your ideas on how the life of the faction dogs could be improved. Would you take a conservative approach, calling for stability and focus on distancing yourself from other factions? Or will you aim towards restructuring your faction, presenting ideas on how it could be improved and more open towards those outside of it?
Keep in mind what types of dogs are in your faction and what threats have they faced in the past. Will you approach them individually, hoping for their faithful votes or will you take a gamble and speak amongst a gathering?”
SUMMARY
A wave of exhausting heatwaves has passed through Canidale..
STRAY SUPPORTER
Many dogs haven’t turned a blind eye to the strays in need. Remembering the help they received not so long ago, the faction canines are willing to share their supplies with those in need. Leif visits Lilac with a delivery of fresh water, whilst Hosea invites strays Canela and Moth for a bowl over at his farm. Some of them were even granted the luxury of a full body dip - V getting invited over by Blanche to her private pool while Ranbir and Ruth enjoyed a silly splash in a Town Square’s fountain.
Thanks to the courtesy of officer Radar, Canela got to enjoy a lovely summer treat in the form of a watermelon bigger than herself. Meanwhile Small fry and Dad brought V a gift of a peculiar ice block, which while not edible was surprisingly good at keeping her cool for a long time.
With stray medics being especially busy that season, a pet named Ranbir was eager to help Canela in her rounds treating patients around town. Meanwhile Sena was lucky to get her burnt paws treated when she visited Wriothesley at his farm. For a moment Canidale seemed unusually peaceful and perhaps it was thanks to Papillon who unknowingly managed to keep the roguish Chilli Nose from committing another crime…
LONER NEMESIS
In the light of Vulcan’s recent attack on the Farmstead livestock, the guard dogs have begun showing most hostility towards the strays approaching their grounds. Spotting Thessin wandering close to his property, Beaumont has managed to persuade her to change her course towards the woods with a civil chatter.
Unfortunately not all dogs have stopped just at their words. One day a stray Chilli attacks a Farmstead teen Stardust. While she manages to get rescued just in time by a close friend, Small Fry, it is the crucial moment in the lives of dogs of Canidale. Not only has Chilli made true on her threats of attacking other canine, but also a failure of the police officers Lucifer and Jiba who despite being assigned by the council to watch over Chilli haven’t been able to prevent the incident. This event serves to deepen the distrust between some faction dogs and stray canines.
STATUS QUO
While some dogs decide to get themselves engaged in the matter of strays, others decide to take a step back, tending to their own matters. A formerly farmstead member, Wriothesley, uses the time to ward off a dangerous predator visiting his property and strengthen the bonds with a few fellow pets in preparations for his transition to another faction.
Out on a late night walk, Big Fella passes by a strange silhouette in the woods, but decides to leave it be, continuing on his way.
With water supply running short, conflicts arise amongst the Junkyard faction. Dogs start noticing unusual behaviour of Dreadnaught, who has started to display more acts of resource guarding and hostility.
CAMPAIGN CANDIDATES
With the search for the missing leaders drawing out, the canines are gradually coming to accept the possibility of them being gone forever. The vacant seats at the top are drawing more attention. A few names come to the front as the dogs begin gathering allies, speaking more boldly of their candidatures. A Junkyard Leif attempts to deal with an aftermath of the rat invasion, a Pet Ranbir makes his rounds across all factions explaining how he could use the position to benefit not just the pets whilst a Pet Judas is making his tentative first appearance.
After days of scorching sun, the heat has finally relented. The dark clouds which could have been seen looming over the hills around Canidale have spilled into the valley like a giant storm wave, covering the sky with a grey veil. Though they brought the promise of a rain, the dogs are yet to see even a single droplet. The air is humid, each lungful of air feeling denser and heavier than normally.
The investigations have been futile so far. The canines have gathered clues, but the leaders are still out of their reach. They have information, items found along the way and a destination that brings more questions than answers: the mysterious facility in the hidden bay.
Recently the disappearances have been getting even worse the past few days. During one of the investigations a pet Rush has been captured by the guards patrolling the facility. On top of that, this morbid morning you have come to a realisation that two of the dogs you used to see frequently around Canidale have been missing for days!
For a few days the Canidale collectively holds in a breath as they watch their brave volunteers head off towards the beach. The Strays are planning their next move while the Farmstead and Junkyard dogs have to face new obstacles.

PROMPTS
Prompt 1: INTRUDER!
"Ever since the heats broke out, the attacks of the wild predators on the Farmlands have only been getting worse. Foxes or coyotes attempting to snatch a chicken are a common sight at nights now. The news of animal attacks are travelling fast between the farms and recently another rumor has joined them: apparently there have been wolf sightings at the farms near Feral Woods! Now, you found yourself to be strong enough to ward off a fox or a coyote, but a real wolf? Will you choose to risk facing it all alone or seek out allies to help you with the night watch?"
Prompt 2: CONTAMINATION!
"Ever since the strange crates started appearing in the Junkyard, the canines living there have reported issues like terrible headaches or nausea more frequently. As the medics struggle to meet the sudden inflow of patients, the dogs of Junkyard are about to face the new crisis. Will they find a way to safely deposit the crates and decontaminate the Junkyard or will they be forced to leave their home? A rumor of an abandoned mall on the outskirts of the town is spreading through the faction. Are you going to examine it or will you stay and help get rid of the dangerous waste?"
Prompt 3: A CRASH COURSE ON DOG POLITICS
“As the situation develops, it becomes harder for new dogs who have just barely arrived in Canidale to get engaged in the matters of the community. Or they just didn’t want to engage in politics until now. Take them for a nice walk or maybe a chat in the shadow of a porch and introduce them to the recent developments in town. Who knows, maybe they will even want to give it a try and you will see each other at the next council meeting? Will you remain unbiased or encourage them to support your cause?”
