Literary Translation in Pratice: Translating Katherine Anne Porter’s Old Mortality

摘要:

本論文主要闡述功能對等理論的翻譯技巧。功能對等理論讓文學譯者避免流於形式對等翻譯。所以作者在翻譯時會打破原文的句法和詞性。透過翻譯凱薩琳˙安˙波特短篇小說«老人家»，本論文也顯示出好的翻譯理論能夠落實到實際的翻譯實務裡。

Abstract:

     This thesis aims to exemplify translation skills employed through functional equivalence theory. Functional equivalence helps literary translators to avoid simply adhering to the formality of the original text. Therefore, the author makes efforts to render translation possible by breaking the original syntax and parts of speech. Through translating Katherine Anne Porter’s Old Mortality, this thesis shows how a sound translation theory can be put into real practice.
