noun
A method of sound reproduction which recreates a 3-dimensional audio perspective. This is achieved by using two or more independent audio channels in a configuration of two or more loudspeakers in such a way as to create the impression of a sound heard from various directions, as in natural hearing. The opposite effect, when sounds are considered to be heard only in the middle, is called mono.
