If not listed male or female, it is currently unknown.

Some taxa (including Salix triandra 'Semperflorens') may flower in several months.

*S. aurita has a fairly long flowering period

Climatic conditions can shift flowering times somewhat.

Several Salix species and their hybrids have male catkins with red or orange anthers. Here are some common examples:

Willows with red anthers

• Salix daphnoides – Often deep red at the beginning of flowering.

• Salix acutifolia – Anthers can be reddish when opening.

• Salix aegyptiaca – Intense reddish purple anthers.

• Salix myrsinifolia – Sometimes red-tinged anthers, depending on the variety.

• Salix purpurea – Some subspecies show a red hue.

• Salix gracilistyla Mount Aso and melanostachys

...

Willows with orange anthers

• Salix triandra – Often orange-red anthers in the early stages.

• Salix viminalis – Can show orange tones before anthesis.

• Salix caprea – Sometimes orange in early flowering.

• Salix cinerea

• Salix cinerea ssp oleifolia

....

The exact color may vary depending on the maturity of the flowers.
