I like to have a couple of different units of work I alternate on a 2 yearly cycle when I teach Drama to Stage 3 in Term 4 each year. I teach Year 5 a separate unit (the same as Stage 2's unit) in Term 4 as Year 6 take part in a Digital Yearbook Unit of Work every year. This is why the student activities for Stages 2 and 3 are the same.
The Year 6 Digital Yearbook Unit of Work is one where the students write and film a song based on their time at Primary School. It is a collaborative project over many weeks. The students also film an individual video diary which is a time capsule of this moment in their lives as they are finishing Primary School and moving on to High School. These films are put together on a USB and gifted to all students for their Year 6 Graduation.
The News Report Unit is based on the Creative Arts Syllabus Stage 3 Drama Unit: "The Search" involving students creating a news story and writing a script in groups. You can use green screen and iPads for this.
The Stop Motion Animation Unit of work is very popular and gives students a great chance to be creative and expand technology skills. Students create scripts and make mini sets and characters and use iPads with a Stop Motion app to put their movies together.
