Each movement needs to be done for 8 counts.
Play some music and have a go at doing movements for each picture for 8 counts each to the music.
Go into small groups and use the dance sheet to create your own dance with your group.
Please remember to move safely when dancing with or around others.
Come together to share your dances with the class to music of your choice.
Lesson 3: The Weather
Warm up: Rasputin- Just Dance 2017.
Think back to the Seasons lesson from 2 weeks ago. In that lesson we used movements to create seasons dances.
Today we are looking at the different types of weather. Look at the weather cards and think about movements you could do for each. Can you list all the different types of weather?
Spread the 12 cards around the room (4 seasons and 8 weather cards). Play different music from the songs below and move your way to each card, creating movements for the weather or season on the card. Freeze when the music stops, then move clockwise to the next card.
Once you have finished moving around all 12 cards, come to the floor. Now you're bringing all those great dancing ideas together to create your own weather dances in groups.
Form groups of 4 and each student in the group choses a card and you create your dance based on those 4 types of weather. Tell your Teacher the names of the people in your group and your weather card ideas for your dances.
Next week you will work on creating your weather dance and use props with your group. You will present in Lesson 5. This will be the Assessment Task for the unit.
Following on from last week, you will go back in the groups you formed and you will start to create your weather dances. You will be allowed to choose the music for their dance when they share to the class.
Think about how props can be effective in a dance. Watch the video of Props Act. How did the props add to the dance?
You may use coloured cloths, ribbons, wrist bands, flowy skirts, headpieces, etc from the props cupboard in your dances to help you represent your weather patterns through dance.
You can work inside or outside with their groups to practice your dances. You will perform in Lesson 5. This is the Assessment Task for the unit.
In Lesson 5 the teacher will take videos and photos of each group’s performance on an iPad.
In Lesson 6 you will watch their video and reflect on your performance by completing the self-evaluation sheet.
Lesson 7: Rain Dance!
