Years 1 - 2 Digital Technologies

In Year 1 and 2, students are mainly used to using iPads for technology activities in the classroom. 

As part of my Creative Arts RFF lessons, I liked to dedicate one Term a year to using the time to focus on Digital Technologies skills for the students. The teachers were always grateful as they found it difficult to find the time in class to dedicate to this as well. 

In Year 1 and 2 I did a unit on iPad Skills to show students different elements on the iPad and how to use certain applications. 

I also did a coding unit on the Makey-Makey every alternate year to get the students interested in coding and they created an interactive artwork. 

For Year 2 I also did a separate unit each week when I would visit their classroom to introduce them to the Chromebooks. This was to allow them time to get used to typing on a Laptop device before they complete the NAPLAN tests in early Year 3. It was such a great unit and I hope you enjoy teaching it.
