Our class is a learning community. As such, in addition to the professor, each student must contribute, not only to his or her own learning, but also to the learning of other students. Each student will present Cases during Class Sessions during the semester. These in-class presentations will be introduced orally at the beginning of the semester, which will provide greater detail; however, to do well, you must exceed each of the following minimum requirements:
.) Dress for success;
.) Demonstrate “expert” knowledge of each aspect of each case;
.) Demonstrate "superior" knowledge of each related course topic;
.) Demonstrate “developing” skills as a presenter;
.) Demonstrate the ability to relate each aspect of each case to each related course topic (e.g., by identifying each ethical issue, generally and specifically);
.) Take audience beyond what is provided in the textbook (i.e., outside research of each case is required);
.) Offer your own insights about each case and its related course topics;
.) Develop your own insights beyond what is provided in the case and the textbook (e.g., “crafting alternative solutions” (this is a research project, meaning you must utilize outside resources and proper attribution and citation of each outside resource that is utilized is required));
.) Effectively utilize visual aids (presentation slides and handouts) (note: any in-class use of technology or recorded video or audio must include closed captioning);
.) Foster discussion by utilizing thought-provoking questions (i.e., beyond those offered in the textbook) (e.g., how one might have avoided the questionable behavior and how one might attempt to justify the questionable behavior);
.) Make effective use of time and strictly adhere to time limits;
.) WOW!!! your audience (including your professor who has seen your cases presented by students many times (and, therefore, knows what is possible), in addition to his having presented your cases many times himself);
.) Complete all Case Reviews corresponding to your Cases;
.) Timely and properly submit five scenario/application-based, multiple-choice Q&As.
Note: Your In-Class Presentation grades will be calculated and posted in D2L at the end of the semester.
