Course Description (BLAW 4960):
This course is an examination of contemporary issues in legal and ethical behavior in organizations that stresses the application of ethical principles to business.
Prerequisite: BLAW 2200, 60 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0, and Admission to the Coles College Undergraduate Professional Program or student in a Coles College Partner Program that includes this course.
Course Objectives (BLAW 4960):
1.) Students will gain functional understanding of topics related to ethical concepts including but not limited to conscience, integrity, loyalty, and responsibility by examining ethical conflict as it exists in the context of business and how such conflict impacts the decision-making process in the various areas of business.
2.) Students will examine ethical issues and problems that routinely arise in the context of business and develop foundational awareness and skills needed to establish decision-making processes in order to resolve such issues and problems in an ethical manner.
3.) Students will consider corporate social responsibility in order to recognize instances in which when a business may have a responsibility to society beyond providing quality product or service for a profit and, if so, determine the most viable courses of action involving its obligations to various stakeholders.
