The Essay Question Project will be introduced orally at the beginning of the semester. The essay question, together with instructions and requirements, will be distributed via D2L under the Assignments tab by the date and time stated in the Course Schedule and then must be submitted both as a hardcopy (see instructions below) and as a softcopy via D2L under the Assignments tab (see instructions below) by the date and time stated in the Course Schedule.
If you submit a completed “Official KSU Writing Center Extra Credit Form” evidencing you attended at least one 50-minute, in-person session in the KSU Writing Center, I will add up to ten (10) extra credit points to your Essay Question Project grade.
To receive credit for the Essay Question Project, you must turn-in the following documents in this order (each document must be stapled separately, and all documents must be contained in a two-pocket presentation folder); Any printed copies of the essay question itself (together with instructions and requirements) must be placed inside the presentation folder, and:
Left Pocket (Optional)
1.) Completed “Official KSU Writing Center Extra Credit Form” evidencing you attended at least one 50-minute, in-person session in the KSU Writing Center (optional, but required to receive extra credit points); and
2.) “Writing Center Draft” of Essay Question taken to the KSU Writing Center (optional, but required to receive extra credit points).
Right Pocket (Required)
3.) “Final Version” of Essay Question (required, and must adhere to length limitations, be double-spaced, and have one-inch margins and 12-point Times New Roman font); and
4.) “First Draft” of Essay Question (required, and must be marked-up, evidencing a serious effort of self-editing; ten (10) points will be deducted if either not turned-in OR does not evidence a serious effort of self-editing).
In addition, you must also properly and timely submit an electronic copy of the “Final Version” by SCANNING and UPLOADING it as ONE DOCUMENT IN PDF FORMAT via D2L under the Assignments tab by the due date and time stated in the Course Schedule.
You must have the technological capability and ability to scan and upload the “Final Version” as ONE DOCUMENT IN PDF FORMAT (i.e., no other formats will be accepted: no submission consisting of multiple pages or files, in Word document format, of photos, pics, jpegs or otherwise, of a link, in a format that requires various online software programs). If not, you will not receive a grade above 70/C.
Do not include your name on any part of your Essay Question Project; utilize your three-digit Student No. that I will provide you (not your KSU ID or SSN number). If your name appears on any part of your Essay Question Project, you will not receive a grade above 70/C.
Your Essay Question Project, which accounts for 20% of your Final Grade, will be graded as follows: (i) self-critiqued, utilizing a matrix I will provide; (ii) peer-reviewed by one or more other students, utilizing a matrix I will provide; and then (iii) professor-graded.
Note: Because your Essay Question Project will be self-critiqued, peer-reviewed, and then professor-graded, your Essay Question Project grade will be calculated and posted in D2L at the end of the semester.
No credit will be given if not timely turned-in/submitted: (1) hardcopy of entire Essay Question Project in a presentation folder, and (2) softcopy of “Final Version” via D2L under the Assignments tab.
