The AI workflow began by identifying weaknesses in the original design, including wind strategy, daylight and shading, circulation, Calder’s architectural translation, and courtyard experience. These issues guided the selection of different AI tools. Perplexity was used to ground the project in site and climate research. ChatGPT was used to develop the concept of “Stillness in Motion.” Claude was used to critically review the concept and identify structural weaknesses. Gemini was then used as a third judge to compare the AI positions and help decide which ideas should be accepted, modified, or rejected.
This process showed that the strongest design direction was not produced by one AI tool alone. Instead, the revised proposal comes from comparing and filtering different AI outputs through human judgement. The final direction is to develop the project as a “Coastal Stabile”: a retreat with a stable base, lightweight steel structure, off-center courtyard, passive ventilation, shaded openings, and one clear structural gesture inspired by Calder’s balance and controlled tension.
