Montreal Canadiens 3, New York Rangers 2

Henri Richard led the Habs past the Blue Shirts scoring twice in a 3-2 win. Guy LaFleur scored the game winning goal in the opening minute of the 3rd period giving Montreal a 3-1 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

New York Islanders 5, Montreal Canadiens 4

Maurice Richard recorded a hat trick, as his two 1st period goals helped Montreal take a 3-0 lead in this game. New York stormed back in the second with a trio of goals to even the score. Richard's 3rd goal gave the Habs the lead early in the 3rd, but NY answered back with a Bob Nystrom goal. The score was tied until Nystrom broke the tied with less than 2 minutes remaining.

New York Islanders 4, Edmonton Oilers 3 OT

Edmonton jumped out in front 3-0 on goals by MacTavish, Messier, and Kurri. Mike Bossy added a 2nd period goal to make it 3-1. Pierre Turgeon scored two Power Play goals to even the score. In the 3rd minute of OT, Billy Smith made a spectacular save and immediately after, Bobby Nystrom hit a one-timer for the win.

New York Islanders 3, Boston Bruins 1

In a game that featured two fights and multiple penalties on both sides, the NY Islanders prevailed 3-1. Ziggy Palffy scored two goals, including one in the 19th minute of the 3rd period that sealed the victory. Bryan Trottier and Dallas Smith also scored.

New York Islanders 4, Detroit Red Wings 1

The Islanders continued to muscle their way through the league with a decisive 4-1 win over Detroit. The game had 4 fights, with Bobby Nystrom involved in a pair of fights. Mike Bossy scored an empty-netter with 3 minutes left to ice it. Delvecchio scored in the final minute for Detroit's only goal.

Pittsburgh Penguins 3, New York Islanders 2 OT

The Penguins overcame a late 2-1 deficit and won on a Mario Lemieux wrister in the 1st minute of OT. Pittsburgh scored 1st on a Joey Mullen goal. The Islanders stormed back, scoring two goals after a Mario Lemieux major penalty (Flatley, Trottier). With 3 minutes left in regulation, Jamomir Jagr scored to tie the game. Billy Smith made two spectacular saves, including a game saving save on a breakaway attempt with less than two minutes in regulation.

Philadelphia Flyers 4, Pittsburgh Penguins 1

An evenly matched game with only a few small bursts of action saw the Flyers rebound from a 1-0 first period deficit to win 4-1 thanks to a trio of third period goals. Ron Hextall made a pair of spectacular saves and Tim Kerr wristed home the game winner.

Chicago Blackhawks 10, Philadelphia Flyers 4

The Chicago Blackhawks dominated the Flyers winning 10-4, and putting the game away early with 5 first period goals. Jonathan Toews and Doug Bentley each recorded hat tricks on their way to four goals apiece.

St. Louis Blues 4, Chicago Blackhawks 1

Battle of the Hulls sees the St. Louis Blues come out on top with a 4-1 win. Blues capitalized on a Duncan Keith major penalty to score twice to open period 3. Backes added an insurance goal in the 10th minute and Boyes scored an empty-netter to seal the win. Both Hull's scored in the game, with Brent scoring the game's 1st goal and Bobby the Blackhawks lone goal.


Toronto Maple Leafs 3, St. Louis Blues 2

The Maple Leafs win in dramatic fashion scoring twice in the final minute of play to pull out a 3-2 win. Brent Hull put the Blues up 2-0 with a Power Play goal to close out the 2nd period. The Leafs answered back with a trio of 3rd period goals, capped by the back-to-back goals late.

Toronto Maple Leafs 2, Buffalo Sabres 1 OT

Lanny McDonald scored in the first minute of OT to give the Maple Leafs the win and allow them to finish as Kings of the Ice Mountain. The game was scoreless heading into the 3rd period. Breuer scored in the 10th minute and the Sabres finally got on the board in the final minute of regulation after pulling their goalie. Korab with the goal.
